there a way to get breakaways?
ive played 13 games now and have had 3 breakaways total on all star. is there a slider adjustment that needs to be made that I am not seeing? i dont want an unrealistic amount, but teams get more or less 1-2 every 2-3 games id say and 3 in 13 games in ridiculous.Tags: None -

2-3 a game?
Definitely no. Maybe against crappy teams, but rarely do you see more than one break-away a game. And most of the time they are off of turnovers/ mistakes.
3-4 a game IS unrealistic. 3 in 13 is normal. -

i didnt say 3-4 a game. can you read man? I watched the last 3 devils games. saw 5 breakaways....just sayin they do happen at times at these rates so 3 in 13 is a far fetch my friend.Last edited by nystyle; 11-08-2011, 11:31 PM.Comment

Re: there a way to get breakaways?
be happy with your 3 in 13 games. i have had 1 in 22 games. 1 a game would be realistic in my opinion. like the other poster said it comes off turnovers and mistakes and this year the cpu doesnt seem to make many of either.Comment

Re: there a way to get breakaways?
I usually get one a game. It's about knowing hockey front and back and seeing the ice and the potential openings before they happen. Your camera might also be hindering your ability to see the ice as if you were actually on it as different people have different feels, try the angle.Comment

Re: there a way to get breakaways?
I always love when someone critizes the game for what could be there own fault. Look for CPU to make poor line changes, make sure you sliders aren't set with the player acceleration too high.
Look for your players to get behind the D, and if they do, sometimes a pass off the boards is the best way to spring them.
Personally, I prefer less breakaways to more anyday. And its fine right where it is, IMO.Comment

I usually get breakaways via springing a player who had just exited from the penalty box with a nice pass, giving them a good breakaway chance.Comment

Re: there a way to get breakaways?
Agreed OBG.
Being able to get behind the cpu's defense far too often would ruin the game for me.
And as you mentioned about throwing the puck off the boards to spring someone...I nearly did this just tonight. It wasn't a clean breakaway, because I think I was late with the pass. But I could see the possibility was there.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Re: there a way to get breakaways?
I am using DJ's sliders and i see roughly one breakaway every game or couple of games which is sufficient in my opinion.
Too many breakaways wouldn't be enjoyable.Comment

Seriously how many breakaways do you see in a game, one ... usually none. Yes they happen but rarely.
Everybody here seems to be clamoring for realistic gameplay but then on the other side want arcade amount of breakaways.
If they were easy to get where's the fun in that?Comment

Re: there a way to get breakaways?
Set your breakout to aggressive for starters. What also helps in appropriate situations is if there is a loose puck instead of switching players take the forward you're on and skate him into a lane. This way when you get the puck he's already ahead of the play and you can send him.Comment

Re: there a way to get breakaways?
I played around today, and found a pretty good way, which takes a bit of luck.
I blocked a few shots from the laying-down position. If you're close enough to the shooter, it'll bounce of the player, and back. If a forward, or the blocker gets up fast enough, you have a breakaway.Comment
