What's the logic behind the FT feedback?

just has a monster game with russell westbrook in Team Up. dropped about 44 and took plenty of FTs, so i got a pretty good sample size. westbrook is pretty good FT shooter, btw

anyway, i had four occasions where i got "Slightly Early 76%" and shot 50% on those particular FTs. why would some go in and not the others?

then i have another FT where i get something like "Slightly Late 81%" and brick it. since 100% is the goal for perfect release, you'd think 81% would give me better success than 76%

i'm guessing the FT system works something like this:

are late releases penalized more than early ones (or vice versa)?

overall, it's not a huge deal issue, since i'm still a pretty decent FT shooter, but it kinda seems like a complete crapshoot unless you get 100%

Because you have a 76% chance of making that free throw. Its not a 100 percent chance that you would make that free throw thats why some went in and some didnt. Even if you shot 89% on a FT you might miss some but not too often.

And you say you shot 50% on your four attempts while shooting 76% but thats not a large enough sample and it seems the you just were unlucky. If you shoot 100 FT's while at (76%) you would make roughly 76.Same logic goes for the 81%

You just didnt shoot enough FT's at the 81 percent and 74% to see the difference.

Thats all there is too it..simple math. Everytime your release said 76 % you have a 3 in 4 chance of making it thats why you made some and missed some and you just happened to miss wit hthe 81 percent

      interesting. thanx

i figured it was simply some kind of way of telling me how close i was to the perfect release point, and that a particular release would produce the same result every time. so basically, there really is some kinda lotto element to it, unless you get 100%
