Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
This team has a lot of solid pieces to build around. With all of the resources Carolina has, what moves would you make to improve their roster? Cam with some solid young talent could be very deadly.

Re: Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
There's an overabundance of talent at LB and redundancy at HB. I'd consider moving Connor and a pick and/or Stewart for some help at WR or in the defensive backfield.
I really think that second HB can be replaced with a player of lesser talent who has a defined skill set, so you can leverage that. Smith is old, and he could use a stronger second this year and potentially a successor next year.
I don't really follow the team, but that's what strikes me just at first glance. -
Re: Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
Starting the franchise with the existing injuries turned off so that means Beason and Davis are healthy.
Connor could definitely be moved and with a pick could land some good young talent.
Any chance I could grab a young speedy receiver like Titus Young or Jacoby Ford for Stewart and a pick?Rikers Island Jail Inmates

Re: Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are actually a pretty good young team with a lot of solid guys at their prime. There are no real weaknesses on this team in my opinion. The O-line is pretty solid, RBs are great, Newton is good for another 10 years, Olsen is good and in his prime with Shockey backing him up. The only thing that could use improvement on offense is WR. Steve Smith is getting kind of old and will be at the end of his contract two years into a franchise. You could draft a first round WR or try to develop David Gettis. He's pretty good and really young with good size and speed. Someone to complement Gettis will have this offense in good shape for a good 5 years at least.
On defense, the LBs are solid and all have like 5 year contracts. I don't think they need to be addressed. The D-line is okay. The only highly rated player is Charles Johnson, but the other guys seem like they'll progress pretty well. I think the Right End (I think he's a Left End, now, but was at Right End when I started my franchise), Hardy has A Potential, so he'll progress pretty well. He went up like 10 points at the end of my first season and he was on injured reserve the whole season. And McClain plays really well and progresses well. I can't remember what happens with the other DT. The secondary is probably the only place where you'lll want to bring in new guys. The SS, Godfrey, is young, really fast and has a 5 year contract, so he's good. At cornerback, I made changes and you may want to as well. Chris Gamble is good, but has a really big contract and is getting kind of old. If you're just starting a franchise, he's rated higher than when I started, so you may want to keep him. The other CB position and Free Safety position are kind of lacking.
You can address these positions in the draft or try to bring in some big players from free agency or trades. I honestly think this team is already in the middle of rebuilding and not much work needs to be done. In my franchise, I brought in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie thru a trade to play opposite Chris Gamble. I happened to stumble on a bunch of good players in free agency who I just picked up because they were a good deal. I got Muhammad Wilkerson (R)(DT), Taylor Mays (FS) and Terrell Owens (WR). Wilkerson and Mays are fixtures in my defense now. T.O. retired and wasn't really doing much, anyway. So, overall, I only picked up one player who was highly rated in DRC and everyone else I just allowed to progress. I brought in a WR from free agency in my second season who was in his second year and has A potential. He was only rated like 74, but went up 10 points in the offseason. At the beginning of my third season, I let Steve Smith go and drafted a WR in the 1st round who is awesome.
In order of priority, I would say address: #1: Secondary #2 Defensive Tackles #3 Wide ReceiversComment

Re: Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
In my Panthers franchise, i drafted a WR in the first round and he's now my slot reciever in my 3rd year. Picked up Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie in F/A's after first offseason and gave him a big contract. CB Captain Munnerlyn wanted a big contract so i cut him because CB Brandon Hogan is a really good nickel corner.
Drafted a LB in first season and is now starting because Thomas Davis was injured for the second season and my rookie blew up with 100+ tackles. Drafted a DE to start opposite Charles Johnson.
My team as of 3rd year, game 14 (10-2) -
QB Cam Newton
RB DeAngelo Williams/Johnathan Stewart
FB Jerome Felton
WR Steve Smith/David Gettis/Drafted WR
TE Greg Olsen/Jeremy Shockey
LT Jordan Gross
LG Travelle Wharton
C Ryan Kalil
RG Makenzy Bernadaeux
RT Jeff Otah
LE Charles Johnson
DT Terrell McClain
DT Sione Fua/Stephen Paea
RE Drafted RE
OLB Drafted OLB
MLB Jon Beason
OLB James Anderson
CB Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie
CB Chris Gamble
CB Brandon Hogan
FS Sherrod Martin
SS Charles Godfrey
KR/PR Danny Woodhead (Acquired thru F/A)
K Sebastian Janikowski (BEAST)
Simmed first season and finished 9-7
Simmed second season and finished 11-5 + SB Champs
Playing third season and currently 10-2 leading NFC SouthComment

Re: Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
I like the pick up of Paea at DT solid looking prospect. Now I think we need help at CB, RT, DT, OLB. The offense is almost set, If David Gettis was still active this would have being scary Smitty & Gettis with Olsen & Shock, Double trouble , And the must underrated unit the O-line.
Now the Dayuum Defense , with our main DT Ron going on IR, Then Beast, TD58 , now Thomas Williams, Omar was hurt, Jason Phillips is hurt, Getting a stud DT i.e. Kris Rudy-Charles Jenkins #77 wow the good old days of dominating upfront, After he left via the trade we lost the body who took on double and at times triple teams off of our LB , SS. If we can get that back , With CJ stepping in to fillout Peppers shoes , Now Greg Hardy is a beast!!! TD58 mite not be back with 3 knee ACL issues not wise move, Mare really blows the hole ST unit needs an overhall Hogan is a solid pick , he plays well on MD12. If they improve on D, and up the ST add maybe another vet WR and draft a RT to replace Otah cause this guys is always hurt...IMH love what they did by getting Ron Rivera as HC, Chud was huge with QB coach Shula.Comment

Re: Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
I play as Carolina being i only live 20min from them, But starting a Chise with them, i keep OF the way it is, & work on DF..the 1st year..then after the 1st year i can tell what kinds of move i need to do...Cause they have a pretty good OF out the gate..Needs work on DF SS,FS and a couple on the line..And in your 3rd year you should be pretty set and can pick up players as you need them..Long as you don't have to many get hurt.....1st year i went 6-11, 2nd 9-8, 3rd 11-6 and lost in 1st round of play off....4th year am 6-1 so far...Good luck...I did have to say bye to a few older players to build the team the way i play...Thats have a lot to do with it is if you are a passing team, running team, little of both...Am a running 1st passing 2nd kind of player....Comment

Re: Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
I started a Panthers franchise with the week 6 roster update. Signed T.O. as a 2nd receiver for Cam to work with but have found LaFell is pretty good, so I'm planning to cut T.O. in the offseason. Signed Leonard Davis to upgrade my o-line and he's a beast, my running game is unstoppable. Pats cut Ron Brace so I signed him to help out at DT, saw that the Bears cut Paea but that seemed unrealistic to me and I control all 32 teams so I went in as the Bears and signed him back. Cut all my FB's and signed Lousaka Polite, who has "A" potential. Also signed Fabian Washington as my 2nd CB while I wait for Hogan to develop. Also signed Antwan Odom to play DE across from Charles Johnson while I wait for Hardy to develop, plan to cut Odom in the offseason. Signed Everette Brown back as well, since he has "A" potential.Comment

Re: Rebuilding the Carolina Panthers
Yup, I don't care who the Bears have at DT - teams would not cut a 2nd round pick with "A" potential in his rookie season. I really wish Madden would build in logic to prevent this.Comment
