I just wanted to share some random thoughts about the 4th quarter. I'm like leading the whole game until the 4th quarter. Even if I have a 15+ lead in points, they start hitting the basket. Every freaking shot goes in. My team struggles getting wide open shots in. Last game they went in a quarter scoring 15 to 36(12min)!!! And I wasn't playing hasty. It's just really annoying.

Partially it's the rubberband AI...
What level do you play on? I play on Pro... less of an elastic AI, which will calm down if you play good D, and make shots on the other end to combat the run...
How long into the CPU run before you call time out? It's best to call it when they score on 3 in a row, and you are scoreless, i.e. 6-0 run...
If someone is going crazy... i.e. Melo using his defender, or always seems open, do you go to defensive settings, and play tight, deny ball, etc. accordingly?
These are all things you can do... but one of the MOST important things is the slider for "Clutch" and "Clutch factor" needs to be at "0" or "Off" respectively...
Again, I'm not telling you you're playing wrong... Just trying to eliminate what you're doing or not doing to determine the best answer to give... -

Wow man really got info. I was playing All star, but maybe it's time to switch a level down. I know the general thumb rule is to call a time out around 6-0 score. My problem probably lies in using the defensive settings. Was only using plays, and defensive formations on the d-pad. Still sometimes it really feels that the AI is cheesing you xD.

That rubberband AI is a b-word.
I think I have only ever maintained a blowout lead ONCE without he AI miraculously coming back.
Now, I troll the AI by holding the ball and eating time off of the clock in the 4th quarter. Gives them less time to try and pull any shenanigans.Comment

I'm playing on All-Star. There, if you play good enough defense, they also will calm down at some point.
But I agree, it is annoying that so many games go that way. It is too predictable that you see any lead melting away late in the game. Sometimes more sometimes less.
It happens in my favor too if I'm behind but it is still boring if momentum goes a similar way every game :/Comment

Yeah man, anything besides pro, and the CPU is the T-1000... You can fill him with bullets, blow his head into to pieces, and he steal manages to keep coming back...
learned this in 2k9... I only up it to All-Star when I am consistently beating the CPU by 20 plus... and I'm talkin taking down LA, LBJ an nem, And all the best teams... And even just one level up is a dramatic change, from blowing them out by 20+ to barely winning/losing by 2... I only play HOF against the homies, and I will do all/superstar if a friend doesn't know ish about basketball or isn't too good... that way he can make some cheese shots lol...Comment

The NBA is a game of runs... If both teams execute precisely on Off and DEF, then the game will not have runs... However, fatigue comes in, One team gets a steal, the other team can't recover, and just get beat up and down the court...right. because in the NBA, runs are facilitated automatically by computer code.
Many of times I've seen the Spurs come back from a deficit, completely lock the other team out, and shot right up until .07 seconds on the clock...
I believe it was the Knicks who gave up a 30 point lead... not sure on this one tho, last year...
It always goes down like that... One team gets beat up for a few, then they come back on a run... Although it is more or less scripted in 2k, because they will have unbelievable fits on the come back, no matter if you play good D or not... and you can't always stop another opponent, weather CPU or User... That's just the game of Bball in general... We sometimes fall apart, get tired, or they just sometimes catch that second wind...Comment

After getting ripped in the 4th, I learned that timeouts should be used for more than just to get the players energy back up. A perfectly called timeout in the middle of all that AI scoring madness can calm all that magical CPU scoring down a lot.Comment
