I will post recaps here and at my blog, hope you guys like it.

Hawks Strike Quick to Take Fifth Straight

With the Hawks looking for their fifth straight victory the Islanders had one thing on their mind, hit first, win second. The Islanders came out physical, not allowing the high flying Hawks to use their speed and creativity early in the game. Usually when this happens the 3rd and 4th lines have to come thru to create some offense and that's exactly what happened, Andrew Brunette was in the right place at the right time to bang home a rebound off a Duncan Keith shot to make it 1-0 almost halfway thru the 1st period. A period that featured 11 shots, total, by both teams.

Things didn't get much better for the Hawks as they were only able to get 2, TWO shots in the second period. The Isles were able to tie it up on a rebound goal from Matt Martin, but it could have been much worse. Crawford came up big in the second period as the Hawks were searching for their legs.

The Hawks were able to dig deep in the third and halfway thru the frame the Hawks stars finally broke thru. Kane and Toews were able to find the net less then 30 seconds apart to give the Hawks a two goal lead with 10 minutes remaining. Just like last game against Phoenix the Hawks clamped down on D limiting the Isles to outside chances and getting big saves from Crawford if there was a breakdown.

The Hawks seem to be on to something here, defense first, and the offense will follow. Another tight checking period to start this one with only a total of 10 shots being fired at the netminders. One of those 10 found the back of the net as Michael Frolik finished a sweet dish from Hossa on the power play to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Crawford wasn't tested much, but did make a big save late in the period on Joe Thornton to keep the Hawks ahead

As expected the Sharks came out in the second period with a purpose, to hit, and get shots to the net, they did both. The Sharks limited the Hawks to 4 shots in the second perios while getting 11 for themselves. Handzus was in the right place at the right time as he was able to convert a turnover into a goal to tie the game up at 1. Really was a tough break as the puck went off a Hawks defenseman's stick right to Handzus on the door step, the Hawks need to ratchet up the intensity if they want a chance at two points tonight.

Anyones game as we go to the third, and both teams came out wanting those points. The flow to the third period was fantastic, back and forth with each goalie making big saves. The Hawks were able to take the lead early in the thirs with great net presence. Sean O'Donnell rifled a shot from the point with Bolland parked in front, Niemi made the save but couldn't control the rebound and Stalberg put it home for the lead. The game was even for the remainder of the third even when the Hawks had a two man advantage that they couldn't capatilize on. Usually when that happens the team that fails doesn't secure the win. That is almost what happened as a furious finish to the game had the sharks game tying goal saved by Duncan Keith as it trickled thru Crawford with less then 10 seconds left, 6 in a row!

        GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

I did a bunch of editing on youtube to shorten the clips, it said it worked, then it didn't, I apologize if there is a delay, there shouldn't be.

            Re: Tazer19's Blackhawks Dynasty

For a team getting so many points, they never want to put together a full 60 minute effort. The Hawks came out firing, Patrick Kane redirected a Seabrook slapshot past Backstrom to give the Hawks an early 1-0 lead. That didn't last long as the Wild were able to create all sorts of traffic in front of Crawford and that led to two Wild goals. The Hawks are in an unfamiliar position on the scoreboard, they will need to get in on the forecheck if they want to change things.

Much of the same in the second period. The Wild are cutting off the neutral zone not allowing the Hawks to use speed or talent to create offensively. For the second period in a row the Wild carried the play, this time thanks to a power play but Corey Crawford made some quality saved to keep it a one goal game. Expect the Hawks to be way more aggressive with their D jumping into the zone and chipping pucks deep to create some offense.

Things were not looking good for the Hawks until their Captain took charge. With just under two minutes left in the game a sweet feed from Patrick Sharp left a wide open net staring at Jonathan Toews and he made no mistake tying the game up at 2. Still not a lot of room out there thru the neutral zone, going to OT should favor the Hawks as there should be a ton of ice compared to the previous three periods.

Davey Bolland! The rat will not be denied, and the Hawks bag their seventh straight victory when it seemed as though this would be the end of the streak. Corey Crawford stood tall when needed and the Hawks clutch scoring continues. Bolland won an offensive zone draw, then got the puck back looking to go around the net, instead had room, and crashed the net and buried it, seven in a row!

Hawks Shaky, Drop One to Ducks

Hawks come home to find an angry Anaheim bunch, maybe a little too angry. The Ducks couldn't control that aggression early as they gave the Hawks a total of 3 power plays in the first, including a lengthy 5 on 3. Patrick Sharp made no mistake on the 5 on 3 with a screen from Brunette he rifled a slapper past Hiller to make it 1-0. The Hawks weren't angels on their end of the ice either as they took a penalty as well. The Ducks were able to tie things up at 1 after a Brunette turnover, Crawford couldn't handle a shot from the point and Jason Blake was there to tap it into an empty net. The Hawks will open the second period with about 1 minute of power play time they will need to kill.

Every once in awhile a goaltender is going to have a game where nothing goes right, that would be this game for Corey Crawford. The Ducks have had chances, but the pucks that have gone in where not quality chances. The Ducks struck fast and often building a 3-1 lead early in the second period. The glimmer of hope for the Hawks was it's #2 ranked power play as Dave Bolland pounded home a rebound to cut the defecit to 1. Shortly after however, Crawford allowed a floater from the end boards to go in and that was the end to his night. Crawford was pulled, and it's Emery's game from here on out, heading to the 3rd it's 4-2 Ducks.

All good things come to an end, but at the Hawks went out fighting. Patrick Sharp was able to poke home a rebound with 8 minutes left to make it a one goal game but the Hawks could not get any closer. With the goalies pulled they had a couple opportunities to tie it up but Hiller was outstanding, all in all a good effort, just came up a little short.

Hawks get a day off then welcome the Flames to town, Ray Emery will get the Start so Crawford will be ready for back to back games against Eastern Powers, the Pens and Canadiens.

                        Re: Tazer19's Blackhawks Dynasty

A solid twenty is in the books, and thanks to a pretty 2 on 1 the Hawks lead 1-0. Each team had a power play early but nothing really materialized, what was encouraging was the play of the PK and Ray Emery. After the Hawks had a sub par effort from Crawford the night before it was good to see Emery pick up his fellow goaltender. Toews was also given an assist on the goal which gives him a 5 game point streak which is good to see after the "slow" start by his standards.

Sharp has been all over the ice lately, including running Kipper.

For the most part it seemed as though the Hawks played right with the Flames in the second but the 4 under the shot total for the Hawks would say otherwise. Another period where the Hawks might have been trying to be too cute offensively. Ray Emery continues to stand tall as he has stopped all 23 shots that have been sent his way. All in all the Hawks defensive core has played a solid game, limiting chances, but Emery has been big when he has had to be. Hawks up 1-0 heading to the third, big two points here before the trip to Pittsburgh.

One could accuse the Hawks of looking past their last two opponents, but at least they walked away with two points tonight. The Hawks were only able to muster 17 shots against the flames, but two of them found the net. An early marker from Patrick Kane extended the lead to 2-0 and Ray Emery made the rest hold up as he had his first shutout in an Indianhead sweater. The Hawks now travel to Pittsburgh for a showdown with the Pens.

Hawks Forget to Show Up, Pens Roll

Two highly skilled teams are going up and down the ice. The only marker was from Pittsburgh when Ahsam was able to pound home a rebound that Corey Crawford was able to get a piece of but not enough. Hawks had a couple really nice opportunities but Johnson stood tall making huge saves on Toews and Kane. Pittsburgh is outshooting the Hawks 12-8, but this game is as even as advertised. Hawks secondary scoring needs to jump into the play in order for them to get back in the game.

The second period belonged to the Pens. They one every battle, and out raced every Hawk to each puck. Craig Adams got the second marker for Pittsburgh giving them a 2-0 lead in front of a hostile crowd. Hawks are not getting enough pucks to the net, again. It's been a problem for a few games now, Pittsburgh holds the edge 24-13 thru two periods, Hawks need to dig deep to make a difference tonight.

Urgency, something the Hawks didn't find until they were down 3-0 after a WEAK Jordan Staal goal, as far as test's go, Hawks failed this one, big time.
