I'm just glad I live in a Country where innocent people are rarely every kidnapped.

I hope Ramos makes it out alive and the kidnappers face swift punishment.

Yorvit Torrealba's son was kidnapped 2 years ago in Venezuela. These players (if they have the money) should move their family to the US where it's safe.

Hopefully this ends well. I understand he only makes 400k, but at least move your family to a better neighborhood in Venezuela.

Did Torrealba ever get his son back?

I heard this on the radio this morning. This is saddening. I do wonder if there is an ulterior motive to specifically kidnapping a professional baseball player (a fine ransom and letting them loose is always better than some other alternatives), or if this was just a random act of criminality.

Sadly, I honestly believe kidnapping acts committed in Venezuela are done solely for the money.

I remember hearing of the kidnapping of a family member of Ugueth Urbina shortly after the Tigers traded Urbina to the Phillies for Placido Polanco a few years back. Sad stuff indeed.

Yeah he paid a ransom so his son was released.

The kidnappings are just strictly for financial reasons. MLB players are big targets since they're among the richest people in the Country.

You make millions. Move yourself and everyone else that you can. Become a citizen. There's plenty of room and a far less chance to be kidnapped.

I was thinking the same thing when I heard about this. If I was fortunate enough to make it out of such an unstable, dangerous country (compared to the US), I'd never want to go back.
