      Re: WWE 12 Retail Impressions

I almost had this game in my hands tonight. I went to a local game exchange and asked if they had it. The guy checked through some boxes on the floor and found it. I almost had a heart attack when he pulled it out of the box. He then realized the box he pulled it out of had a "do not sell until 11-22" sticker on it.

It was almost a great night. ugh.

Anyway, are those who have it still loving it? Has the luster wore off yet jrider?

Kind of wondering same thing for those that have the game. Still have that can't put down the controller feel?

I played it a ton in June. A ton in August. And I've played it nonstop since Thursday. Luster isn't wearing off for a long time. This will be my main game well into 2012.

I decided to cancel my preorder at Gamestop. I can't preorder from Target and pick it up in store so I'll just go when they open Tuesday morning and there should be no issue in getting The Rock with it... at least there better not be. Hard to pass up saving $13 and getting it sooner.

I haven't touched Skyrim since my copy of WWE 12 arrived. Does that answer your question?

Played my universe through the Royal Rumble (which I won with the Miz). I started out at number 1 as Cody Rhodes and made it all the way through 16 until I got eliminated by Mark Henry. Brock Lesnar is on Raw in my universe and he started a feud with me the day after Raw for my royal rumble spot. I was coming down to face Randy Orton only to get jumped and taken out of the match. I really like the new button combo aspect of the Rumble as I find button mashing too iffy if that makes sense. I bumped up from normal difficulty to hard for more of a challenge. Will report back after elimination chamber.

So with the guys who have it, has anybody messed with attribute edits yet to see if it noticeably increases match length. I have yet to see a video where a non gimmick match lasts more 6 or 7 minutes once you get past the entrances which eat up 2 minutes on the YouTube videos and saw one on Legend level where the user was HBK against HHH in a 15 minute ironman match and HBK won 6 pins to 3. A little bit disturbing where 2 wrestlers who would have strong durability would have that many pinfalls, especially where the user was supposedly playing on legend and managed 6 pins on HHH in less than 15 minutes. Maybe the difficulty isn't that ramped up after all once you play for awhile and get familiar with the new controls.

I know Jrider got good results with setting momentum to 0 and I would assume minimizing reversal damage would be another effective slider but has anyone screwed around with increasing resilancy and durability (I'm not even sure what the exact attributes are for the wrestlers).

I don't understand why they don't incorporate a simple rate of damage slider that you could adjust where a low setting would effectively slow down the impact of damage and give you much longer matches if the person desired.

I'm not looking for 20 minute matches every time but these 5-7 minutes matches with every wrestler seems like every past game and I know the pacing is supposed to be better but how much better can it be when the wrestler is ready to be pinned after a few minutes and 4 or 5 moves.

I think a lot of this has to do with how everyone plays the game. I try to play as "sim" as possible, taking my time and wearing down my opponent before I go for a pin. And I don't go for my finisher or signature move as soon as I get it, especially if I happen to get it early in the match.

I've had total squash matches, but I've had others that, even if they weren't 10 minutes long, felt like they were because of the pacing and back-and-forth momentum swings.

Are you playing mostly on Legend and are you winning most of your matches now that you've played for awhile? Not a fan of having to go by personal house rules because the game is too easy.

No, I'm playing on Hard with the momentum sliders turned all the way down. I've gotten to where I can win most matches that I should win -- i.e. ADR vs. McGillicuty or Cena vs. anybody -- but I still lose those matches sometimes, too, if a well-timed reversal happens.

When the roles are reversed, it's still a struggle to beat the elite guys. Maybe that's due to the way I play, or me not being as good as the guys you're seeing play in those videos. Who knows? I just know that for me, the game is still presenting a good challenge and I'm having fun with it.

I just started actually playing matches in Universe and am seeing a ton of stuff I hadn't already seen.

Good to know because the last game I played was SVR 10 and it took me literally 3 days to win 95% of the time on the hardest level even with reversal sliders jacked up for the AI and I don't even consider myself that great a player, it's just once you get familiar with the AI it gets formulaic on how to win quickly.

I guess with the ability to edit attributes I can always take the 3 or 4 wrestlers I plan to play with and lower thier ratings across the board down 10-20 points or so to keep the difficulty up. That way if I'm at a severe disadvantage agaisnt the Undertaker etc.. I can play old school and take the fight outside of the ring and do whatever I can to wear him down rather than just spamming moves back and forth. I plan on just taking 2 wrestlers from each brand (called WWF and NWA of course) and play with whatever Universe throws at me for matches.

One other issue I have with what I've seen is that after 5 minutes (or after one kickout used up) the pin window seems really tiny for you to kick out. If that is THQ's way of making it difficult because you can't kick out more than once then I don't like it. How do you increase that window? By increasing resiliancy as an attribute for your wrestler?

Ive got a question i think was answered here but cant see it.

Can I edit the entire card change every match then play through the show using stream flow.

Some people say you have to play the edited match straight away whilst other such as yourself or caws.ws say you can edit the entire card without having to play an edited match up straight away

dont suppose you could clear this up for me?

                                cheers
