BLAZER WEEKLY

CAN THEY WIN?

HEAD COACH TRAVIS RHATIGAN AN THE BLAZERS FIND THEMSELVES ON FAMILIAR GROUND

BIRMINGHAM, AL - As the Blazers wrap up their final week of practice in Birmingham before heading to Pasadena, they find themselves on the same set of circumstances as last years chance at a BCS title. Just like TCU the No. 1 Iowa Hawkeye's have a Heisman trophy winning running back on their side.
"That is something we are aware of." said head coach Travis Rhatigan after the teams Tuesday Practice.
"We will be ready this time around, we have a great bunch of kids that understand whats at stake this year and they're working harder than ever for this championship."
Since winning the SEC championship this year, the Blazer have been awarded with All American and All conference selections as well as a few players bringing home some hardware from Orlando earlier this year at the awards banquet. But the only piece of hardware on the players minds are that of the Sears Trophy and the crystal ball.
" The younger guys have to understand this isn't just another game, It's the only game and last game of the season." Senior receiver Ian Wilson said, Wilson had seven receptions for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the championship game last year. " We have to make sure we bypass all the distractions and worry about the task at hand and thats to hoist the crystal ball."
UAB will practice Thursday, Friday and Saturday before taking new years eve and new years off before flying to California on Tuesday.
