What Will You Do About NHL 13

I am putting this poll up to see what guys across this board will be doing about NHL 13. Personally i am having serious doubts about whether EA should see my money next year, I said the same this time last year but with there being more evidence than ever that EA are getting lazier with regards to their NHL title i am of the view of why should i support them if they refuse to support the consumer.

The list of problems this year is endless

-Freezing that may not be addressed in 12
-Terrible AI both for the user and cpu
    -Goalie issues
-Cpu advantages (this varies with opinion)
    -Major lack of penalties
    -Lazy roster updates
-Catering more to the arcade style (tuners)
    -Lack of fresh presentation
    -Momentum (this is my opinion)
-There are still line change problems
    -Poor attention to detail
-Focus to online play while offline is left threadbare
    -Bugs in custom music
-BAP is still poor (AI, Goalies, etc)
-EASHL problems (i dont use this but i have read the complaints)

Please vote in the poll, I really want to get a view of how the community feels about this.

Well I voted that I will wait and see, but I'm pretty sure I'll cave in and buy it on release day. With the number of issues with this years game and the fact that so many will be left unfixed, I know I would be better off to wait next year.

lol, I'll probably do the same thing.

Though if the Jays do real well next season in MLB, I might hold off on NHL abit longer until the MLB season is meaningless.

I will buy it on release day, just because, but if the game is as broken as this year, I will be just as ticked... All I ask for for this year and next is that teams take and draw penalties, like in nhl10 and 11...
If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.

i picked "will wait" no ifs and buts. i bought this series from NHL 07 (didnt buy 2002-06, bought 2K) and every year, finding myself more frustrated because of the glaring issues.

Yeah, I can do with or without upload/download rosters, not a deal breaker for me... Presentations, I only watch them the first day, then I hit "X" the rest of the year, I see enough of them when people in the EASHL don't know what an X button is turning a 20 minute game into a 30-40 minute game... Improved teammate AI, I will give you that, however haven't had much of an issue with that offline, usually the guys are where they are at when I need them to be somewhere, as for defense, yes a little slow to recognize, but I quickly take control of a defenseman and play de, so not a huge issue for me either...

Don't get me wrong, for some what you have mentioned are huge deal breakers I am sure, I just want authenticity, penalties (or lack thereof) is the biggest culprit this year of ruining that for me...

Unless it's a major step forward and not just another update (that breaks what wasn't broken in the first place), NHL 12 will likely be my last EA hockey game for awhile.

I'm going to wait and see this year. This'll be the first year since NHL08(Underway) that I won't have a reserved copy.

I always wait for the price to drop before I purchase. The last few years IMO, have been nothing but updates for NHL 09. They need a totally new engine with an overhaul in graphics, presentation, and atmosphere. The game as it is now is stale.

Its pretty simple for me. If what I want is not in 13 I'm not buying the game !

Well EA always promises crap they dont deliver on....I always pre-order, buy on release day giddy with excitment.....I pick it up, get home, pop it in and immediatley notice it's kinda just a roster update and a bad one at that.....I then spend months trying to make it play better....I then scour the forums to see if anyone had the success I did'nt....I then give up and post many unhappy things about the game.....I then scour the forums answering polls on the next NHL (what we want to see, will we buy, etc.).....I then like everyone else move on to something else for months until previews start surfacing about the next NHL and EA promises crap they wont deliver on.....I then pre-order....holy crap!
You get the picture and I think this stands for most of us here....and again we will bend over and take it in the dumper again.

Be careful what you wish for... I would rather pay for a roster update than a whole new engine when if they were to do a whole new engine, it would have 3-4 years worth of terrible bugs and issues...

The game NHL10 was almost perfect, really not much was needed to say they had a finished product, so they added modes, which robbed peter to pay paul in NHL11, still though, NHL11 was solid, then this year, they added legends and winter classic as a stand alone, amongst other engine changes, so that takes up space, where do they take it from? The existing game space (i.e. penalties) Why do they add these modes? Because people complain and say they want more, then complain when it is not up to par, or their favorite mode is damaged. I do not want more, I want less offered, and the engine from NHL10 to come back and remain!!! Less is better... More modes equals more half hearted attempts of several different game aspects... When they concentrate on a few things and leave it be (i.e. Be A GM/Versus, and Be A Pro/EASHL) then it would be a win/win for the simulation crowd and hockey fans in general. Most new introduced modes are NEVER played after a week or two, so you have mega amounts of disc space being wasted (So who plays the Winter Classic every night?). What do people then do? Come on to game forums and complain this or that needs changed, or added "back" (back being the key word)... It was your complaints they listened to, how were they to know you still wanted a gatorade bottle on the net, a coach's face, a goal celebration or more pressing issues like actual penalties being called, realistic hitting based on attributes, etc. I will say it again, be careful what you wish for.

If they were to just update rosters year to year, and new jerseys, the new faces, I will still buy it, I would have to if I wanted to play online, bottom line... It doesn't become "stale" as I have read... It is hockey, and the "Real" NHL doesn't change the game every other year, so again, saying it a third time, be careful what you wish for because I guarantee, if there was/is a new engine, it would/will take several years before it became playable, and then if and when it does, people will complain and we are right back to square one...
