EA... If you still care about NHL 12, please FIX PENALTIES

Like the title says...

This game demands and deserves another patch. I'm an OFFLINE player, and I want to enjoy this game. I understand it will never be 100% simulation, and I've given up on this concept.

But please, please, please... Can this game be patched so MORE penalties with MORE variety get called??

Redshirt...anyone!! I'm not being critical, I'm just asking a favor. I don't know why it appears that EA has given up on this year's title and I'd also like to see more communication here (as in past years). I'm seeing a HUGE disconnect between EA and the gaming community. There's a LOT I'd love to see tweaked/fixed, but if you could at least give me more penalties then I'll just take that and be satisfied.

(PLEASE: if anyone chimes in on this thread, do NOT spout about OTHER items you do not like. I just want this to focus on penalties... Are you seeing a variety? What kinds get called? Have you received any 5 minute majors? Any game misconducts? Any kind of penalties you've NEVER seen called?). Thanks!

I agree.
All it seems to be is tripping and slashing.
Since the patch that got rid of the over abundance of boarding, i haven't even gotten one in at least 10 games. I haven't seen a game misconduct in about a month, until tonight where there was one given out for hitting from behind...
Sadly it was the same bump that was called interference all the time pre-patch.

NHL 12 penalties i saw

Far too Many

-Goaltender delay of game (Improved after patch)

Majority

-Goaltender Interference
-Hooking
-Slashing
-High Sticking

Sometimes

-Interference
-Tripping
-Delay of game

Once in a Blue Moon

-Boarding
-High sticking (4:00 minutes)
-5 minute majors
-Game misconduct
-Cross checking (Mostly after the whistle)



Cant think of anymore but i hope this is what you are looking for MK.

If they still cared about the game, the would fix the freezes first. However, I know it probably isn't up to the developers whether the game is patched again or not. The penalties might be able to be fixed with a tuner though.

such a shame if they dont post here no more bc they cant handle the heat so to speak. shows ya what type of buds they are. the wwe 12 dev's are getting hammered at caws/ws and they are still typing away and being involved in those same threads etc. heck, in past 2 days they took more heat than any nhl dev ever has..

3 plus years of same issues etc, that they ignore so to speak.. thats why they dont come here, bc its like a broken record. they tired of hearing it.

In all honesty, it isn't so much some being idiots, criticism is needed, bottom line... Like Jack Nicholson said to Tom Cruise "You can't handle the truth", meaning, the devs know this years game is a POS and if I f'd up, I would ignore it too from shame... People bow down to the developers to often... If they can't take the heat, get out of the hockey kitchen and let someone who does care take it over... They had the penalties right the past two years, so they change it this year, REALLY???? Why???? Because they cater to the exploiters, always have, always will, patches are evidence of that...

With regard to communication... I read elsewhere that in the past EA would provide a list of all the players added in roster updates - a running list. They no longer do this, and a couple posts I read at the Official EA Forums called EA out on this kind of laziness.

I really admired the communication from the new Nascar game that came out this past year. The game was an absolute mess - and I mean totally unplayable (of which I won't get into here). But they took the heat, understood the frustrations, and were VERY polite about, even to the "idiots" who lacked kindness and tact. I've since traded that game in, and don't know if everything got fixed, but they kept a running log of everything they were working on and took feedback well..... They WANTED people to enjoy and want the game.

I get the idea that EA NHL no longer cares... The penalties (lack thereof) provide proof of how they're not listening to us, and there's a LOT of hockey yet to be played this year....

great stuff!!!! do you remember when EA was hit hard when another developer came up and challenged them (2K3-2K6). EA felt the pressure and they did so many changes thereby taking 2k out. but with the 2K out of the market, EA is now back to their nonchalant attitude. if there'll be no other company that can compete with EA and EA is going to release another product with full of promises that fail miserably, best thing for us to do is IGNORE them, dont buy another NHL product.

but yea, same here i need to see penalties addressed but i think our plea will fall on deaf ears.

The only idiots on this forum are the chumps who forked out roundabout 60 dollars in their local currency on a piece of unstable rubbish. I count myself as one of them. Lesson learned for next year, where I won't be so stupid.

It's no exaggeration to say that NHL 12 is the shoddiest title I've played this gen.

Honestly the penalty issue has been around since NHL10 and they never have gotten it right. And later the problem only gets worse when they change the tuners for players whining in the EASHL about xyz problem (like interference).

I hate to complain without a solution but I really don't know what they could do to fix this. In the end we need an engine with more sliders or sliders with a wider range that's more than 0-6. Or adjust how aggression or the attributes work.

If I recall a couple years ago, the "complaint" was there were TOO MANY penalties being called. Since then they toned it down and that's when this mess began... I like the idea of sliders for specific penalties... But something tells me EA won't go that far in their efforts...

As an offline player myself, I've removed the patch and use the original tuner. The game is much much better. I'll have to live with some of the pre patch issues, but there weren't a whole lot for offline as compared to online. I wasn't having any freezing issues either way, so I guess I can make a choice.

However, I wish I could get a personalized patch, because there are a couple things I don't get pre-patch, like the Jets' new jerseys. But, as usual I have to make a choice. Next year, my choice may be to play something else.

lets be honest, we dont see many penalties bc EA wants games to go as fast as possible for the causal gamer.. cut scenes being taken out here and there, speed up process in between whistles, and heck, the goalie passing the puck out for you when you dont touch the pass button.
