    pump fake abuse

i have experienced this abuse when me and my mates were playing against each other, he used the twolves, started posting up milicic and love for every offensive trip.. he would let them back down until they reach near the restricted area and do pump fakes.. yes fakes, 2 or 3 times until my defense (AI controlled) jumps then he either gets 2 pts or a foul.. its driving me nuts.. im also not that good at paint defense so i let the AI guard the area.

is there a way to stop this cheese move or any slider that would limit this abuse?

    i have

    difficulty - PRO
    inside shot success - 45
    lay up - 50
    contact shot success - 40
    drive freq. - 55
    inside shot freq. - 100
    quickness - 0
    vertical - 40
    off. awareness - 50
    def. awareness - 50
    on ball defense - 50
    blocking - 50
    contest shot - 50

i had 3 hawks players in the paint swarming milicic, he did a pump fake, all 3 players jumped.. then milicic layed it in easily.. lol

    Re: pump fake abuse

It's probably an AI flaw, because even the AI when playing against it cheese-pumps 2-3 defenders at the same time using guards or forwards as there were no tomorrow. Especially guards tend to do this in a very annoying manner to almost every defender.

This is one of the many gameplay mechanics of 2k12 that really needs to be fixed and never should have been in the game to begin with, but that is the new normal isn't it? :P

yeah in real NBA its very rare to see the defense jumping on fakes in the PAINT.

usually they will remain grounded and raise both hands (shoutout to Lamar Odom) lol...

man 2k manages to fix/upgrade 2-3 things but sometimes overdoing it that leads to a birth of a new FLAW.

It's an AI problem that hopefully gets patched.

The only way I've found to reduce this across the board is to lower the Contest Shots slider down to very low levels, but this also makes scoring much easier since it impacts all shots and not just pump fake attempts. It's not a fair trade-off just to reduce a few unrealistic foul scenarios.

Reducing the frequency of pump fakes by the CPU is much easier and doesn't require patching. It's all in the tendencies.

Are you kidding? NBA defenders will jump if a ballhandler even steps into the paint WITHOUT pump faking, let alone actually doing it.

They definitely do. I'd bet my house on it, and I'll post a video if you doubt me that much.

Since when is Rose as good a defender as the other three?

And everyone falls for pump fakes sometimes. Everyone.

but we are talking inside the PAINT.. im sure players who fall for fakes in the paint will get an earful from their coach. maybe kwame brown or some low rated bigman will fall for it but not josh smith or al horford whos guarding darko,.

the only player/s i see abusing fakes is either kobe, wade or shaq. funny thing is kobe usually do 3-4 fakes before he get his defender up in the air..

                      Re: pump fake abuse

You, my friend might have the defensive awareness lower than that of offensive awareness attributes... Relate it to real life bro, defensive awareness is much higher than of offensive awareness. Even mediocre players find thinking defense easier than offense. Why? 'Cause they don't think about a ball when in Dfense. Turn your def. awareness a lil' bit up... MAKE SURE IT's NOT TOO HIGH!!! Or else you gonna start seein those cheap blocks (they just tap the ball in your hands, and it counts as a block!? WTF!?), bump animations (you can't drive the lane no more), and they won't ever permanently fall for pump fakes (imagine Kosta Koufus not fallin' for your pump fakes?! hahaha)

TURN YOUR D AWARENESS UP, then you'll notice that good defensive players won't fall for the pump in the paint frequently. REMEMBER, it must be higher than offensive awareness at least a lil' bit.
