Tell me they scrapped the ridiculous caddy mode, and returned TrueAim to what we had in TW 11, then I might care.

TW 11 was awesomesauce. TW 12 was my biggest sports game disappointment of the year. I have no idea what to expect from TW 13.

        Purple on the box! Woohoo!

Seems like a cop out IMO. Look a Top Spin 4, a game with likely even less of a budget that TW has, and which likely sold a lot less, but still managed to put out multiple updates to gameplay after it's release, even as recently as September. Compared to this, TW 12's post release support was pretty lackluster IMO.

I agree with your last statement.

However, unless you know firsthand what budget and resource limitations TW and TopSpin Devs were under, all you are doing is speculating and we can do that all day long and never come to a FACTUAL conclusion.

And yet, TW12 won a couple of Sports game of the year awards....Kotaku comes to mind for one....go figure. I agree with you on the Caddy and TruAim though.

Is this some kind of joke? Instead of a preorder course they give us celebrity golfers instead. You gotta be kidding me. I'm sure you could put them in the PGA tour as well. Wow, EA is really putting out all the stops this year. That will make career mode feel totally immersive. Hopefully NBA2K12 takes notice and offers Justin Bieber as a preorder bonus next year.

Well, this eliminates Amazon.com as a potential pre-order option for me! This type of ploy is lost on guys like you and me, but they're obviously pandering to a market they think they can reach with this. I'd love to have at least 15 solid pros so that EA Sports would have the option of including at least a 16 player, match play tournament in Career mode play. That would easily be the main attraction of a Career mode season, at least the way you're playing against an off-camera, spread-sheet field now.

I just don't understand why golf, which out of all the sports is the most low key and tradition laden sport, continues to be tricked out by EA. They treat it like it's PGA Jam when before that it had always been treated as a serious simulation before the TW series.

Just think if any other video sports game did not have overtime or the NBA2k and NHL series had cartoonishly bigger hoops and bigger nets (like the clownish pin placements) there would be such an outcry but with the TW series it's expected because EA treats it like it's a joke sport. I really don't get it. Especially when it was the 1st sport to be treated seriously way before any otherr in computer video games with the Links series.

I buy this game every year in hopes it will be that "serious" golf sim you're talking about, but it never measures up IMO. Are the devs in contact with the community? I don't really follow the development of this series.

From what I'm gathering from a few guys who've been invited in to test the new game, there's an entirely new swing mechanic for the '13 edition, and it is reportedly more conducive to offering a better simulation experience. They can't go into detail right now, but I'm sure details on this will be parcelled out over the next few months.

One of the guys saying this is a sim-minded gamer and I can tell from his enthusiasm that something special is going on with this. I'm optimistic that at least the thumbstick control swing will be more satisfying and more reliant on tempo. OTOH, I'm still quite pessimistic about the Kinect implementation for '13. I'm just not sure that the limited bandwidth of current Kinect communication via USB is adequate for what's needed to make it believable with a real golf simulation.

I'll be happy if they can make chipping realistic because the series has always been an embarrasment in regards to that. It's a crapshoot and the wedge serves no purpose except as full swings like every other iron. You can chip just as effectively with a 3 iron that you can a wedge. How could Links get it right 8 years ago and TW still hasn't?

And they better offer full customization of DLC courses for your career mode so I can use any course for any tourney. That has to be offered at the very least for me to buy it (well that and playoff holes and realistic pin placements). Last year was a joke where you could only use a DLC course twice in a 10 year career. If I'm forking the money over I should be able to use DLC courses as often as I want and where I want in my career. It's a joke they charge you so much extra for DLC and you can't even do what you want with it.
