    NBA Greatest Mode discussion

So the news of the lockout ending is great. What Ive done is pretty much erased all Associations and My Player in anticipation of the roster update. I decided to 'reset' the game so to speak and start over. I am having some of the most fun EVER playing the NBA Greatest after completing all of the training camp mode. This is what I'm doing...

I play on Superstar difficulty and on the full 12 minute qtrs. Im playing the games in chronological order starting with Bill Russell, then Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Wilt, etc...

This has been the most fun I've had yet. You truly learn I play the game and use the skill sets of the specific players. If your a true basketball fan...it's amazing. Some players I never saw playi actually get a feel for how they were and the presentation is wondwrful.

On 12 min qtrs u get to experience real time, subs, fatigue, an runs by both teams. I save the game at certain points if I feel the games gettin outta reach and go back to those starting points. It's a mode unlike any other in sports games. You get that feel of 'beating the game' (I'm old school) and it feels so realistic. I couldn't stop players on opposing teams like Pistol Pete, Walt Frazier, Jerry West. And the thing is I can't wait for the next game since it will be further and further up to present day and the ballers I already know.

So anybody else do this? I tried to score 100 with Wilt lol. Got 80 on 40-60 shooting. Missed all free throws smh. Did get a triple double with Big O.

This games def worth the money and can't wait for the roster update

i bought 2k12 strictly for the historic teams. don't care much for the nba today. i agree, 2k did a great job on the greatest mode and when you have a great game it really puts you back in time and give you a realistic experience. nice to see a post for a change that praises this great game instead of people nit pickiing about little ish..

I agree…wouldn't it be nice though to be able to select old school presentation and rules for other game modes? (60's, 70's, 80's etc) They did such a great job on it, hate that it's so limited.

True. Something to be said for the old days. I like how on the first few there's no three point line...well not that I like it...it's just different. Fun though. Changes the game.

Can't agree with wanting the old presentation for newer teams though. Just wouldn't be right lol.

So...what are some stats from the mode?

          Anybody scored 100 with Wilt?

That's tough, haven't even tried. You also have to remember that the Wilt Chamberlain that scored 100 points in one game was 26 years old, we only have the watered down 34 year old.

LOL…yeah, I was referring to playing with retro teams and rosters which is my primary interest…Would be cool to have the option.

I have 9/15 beaten. I'm doing them all in coach mode. Right now, San Antonio is beating Utah 27-17 late in the 3rd quarter (5 minute quarters just to get the games done lol). Scratch that, 29-17. I hope my boys can pull off a comeback of some sort.
James Naismith visited an Indiana basketball state finals game along with 15,000 screaming fans and later wrote, that while it was invented in Massachusetts, "basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport."
