    A Dual Career Coaching Legacy

Me and Roggie will be chronicling our College Hoops 2K8 legacy in this thread. I don't think I have seen a thread yet with two people from the same dynasty, so this will definitely be a unique one.

    Some quick information:

We play on the Xbox 360.

We did not chronicle Season 1 as I wish we had, but from Season 2 on we will post.

I am using Texas Southern, my friend Roggie is using UC Davis. We play EVERY game. And trust us when we say this: Our sliders are pretty damn challenging. If you would like to check em out, I'll post them for you.

Only house rule for recruiting is that we're only allowed to recruit one world player per season.

We share the file through the 2KShare, so if anyone wants to check it out you can look it up based on our gamertags. Mine is WutZ KraKaLaKin and Roggie's is Bacon Strips x5. We come up with stupid and often times immature file names, so bear with us on that.

We're looking forward to sharing our dynasty with you guys! We're both aspiring sports writers who are currently in college, so reporting our games is definitely something we love to do. Hope you guys enjoy it!

                Season 1 Recap:

Getting dismantled in the opening game by New Mexico State was not a good sign, but was expected nonetheless. Keeping it close with Texas two days later, though, was a shocker and a confidence builder, leading to the first win against Nicholls State. After a few more losses with a win sprinkled in, we hit the end of the Early Signing Period, where I nabbed a PG (Rank 179), Ibrahim Daniel, out of Palo Alto, CA, and a PF (Rank 436), Gerard Lettenberger out of Vallejo, CA (The home of athletes such as Jahvid Best, Jeff Gordon, CC Sabathia, DeMarcus Nelson, and Joey Chestnut). Little did we know at the time what this early recruiting momentum would lead to.

Following the end of signing week, we continued our losing ways, topped with a 40 point drubbing at the hands of UCLA. Wimpering into conference play at 3-7, the expected L came at the hands of UC Riverside. But the team finally hit their stride and won back to back games, before losing two in a row. Sick of continual *** kickings, the team got together in practice and picked up the pace, finally starting to play to their talent level, which led to a 6 game winning streak.

Another loss to UC Riverside separated the 6 game streak from a 3 game streak, but then the last two games of the regular season ended as losses, costing us a chance at the conference championship and a bid into the NIT. Senior go-to player Todd Lowenthal lost all touch from three, dropping his season 3 point percentage from 46 to 38 in the last 4 games.

In the first game of the conference tournament, the game was close up to the last two minutes, when everybody forgot how to shoot, and the season was over in embarrassing fashion.

But, there was still offseason recruiting.

The two big name in-state guys that Coach Rogoff had been talking to all season still had yet to receive offers from any big time schools. JR Juco PF Stacey McNamara (Municipal recruit) and SF (Rank 50) Jimmy Murphy (Local recruit) weren't receiving any interest from any school besides UC Davis, and with both wanting to stay close to home, they ended up signing with the Aggies in the offseason, along with World PF Mandurou Gakou, who will convert to center.

"I was absolutely shocked when we received the faxes with signed LOIs from Stacey and Jimmy. At first, I thought someone was pulling a prank on me. I figured there was no way players of their talent would want to play for a raw coach and a program that struggled the previous season. Jimmy is going to become the go-to player on offense his first day with his touch from behind the arc and will see a lot of time at off guard as well as the three, while Stacey will finally give us that inside post presence we've been lacking. I'm also really excited to get Ibrahim, Gerard, and Mandurou finally in to practice. Ibrahim will play a major role this season, with only one point guard returning. Mandurou will step in as a backup center with a chance at starting, while Gerard will bring much needed depth in the paint."

                  Season 2 Preview:

In the second season of the young coach's career, the Aggies are expecting to see a dramatic improvement over the previous season. With the influx of talent coming in this year, coach Rogoff is ready to start putting in his system.

UC Davis is expecting to win their conference outright and will aim to win 20 games this season. At least three newcomers appear set to start the entire season, and the starting PG position is up for grabs.

Having never made the big dance in the entire existence of the program, coach Rogoff understands the desire coming from the fans. Everybody knows this team is favored to win the conference, and the coach knows it. But he also knows that just one bad game in the conference tournament can derail the entire season.

"I'm really looking forward to this season," Rogoff said. "(Former) Coach Stewart left me with a nice foundation to build on, and I'm extremely excited to see the class we brought in for this year. If you had told anybody here that we'd lock up a top 25 recruiting class, we'd have called you insane. I wouldn't have thought that so many kids would want to build a legacy at a school instead of chasing the big names and the NBA."

After watching the scrimmage during Aggie Jam, it was apparent that Jimmy Murphy will be the focal point of the offense with his 3 point shooting. Manourou Gakou should be a dominant force on defense and on the boards, while Ryan Sypkens should again be lights out from 3.

                  Starting Lineup:
PG: #1 Ibrahim Daniel, 6' 176 LB FR (67 OVR)
SG: #32 Ryan Sypkens, 6'5 185 LB SO (64 OVR)

                  C: #45 Manourou Gakou, 6'10 238 LB FR (65 OVR)

                  Reserves:
SF #23 Harrison Dupont, 6'6 225 LB RS SO (67 OVR)
PF #55 Gerard Lettenberger, 6'7 220 LB FR (66 OVR)
PG #21 Eddie Miller, 6'5 205 LB SR (63 OVR)
                  SG/SF #24 Ryan Howley, 6'6 195 LB JR (63 OVR)
PF #34 Alex Tiffin, 6'9 229 LB SO (61 OVR)
                  G #15 Tyler Les, 6'2 192 LB SO (59 OVR)
                  C #41 Mike Kurtz, 7'1 206 LB SO (56 OVR)

PF #25 Josh Ritchart, a Soph, will redshirt this season.

                    Season 1 Recap

The Texas Southern Tigers began a new era last season as they brought in rookie head coach Logan Martinez, age 25, to lead the program. Martinez brought with him a fast-paced attack (though not at the pace of the UNC's or VMI's of the world) that emphasized rebounding and passing the ball, as evident in the assist numbers the Tigers racked up by seasons end.

The Tigers' program has never earned a birth to the NCAA Tournament in it's history, and Martinez's first goal that he set for the team was for them to get to 20 wins and make it to the Big Dance.

The season got off to a rough 2-5 start, including a 28-point debacle to Houston and a 30-point loss to Kentucky. Martinez found go-to players in the early stages of the season however, as Senior PF Travele Jones (15.8 PPG) and Freshman SG Lawrence Danner-Johnson (11 PPG) led the team in scoring, and it would continue that way for the rest of the year.

The biggest win of the year for the Tigers came on the road against Purdue. The Boilermakers had a lackluster season (15-19 final record), but the Tigers went toe-to-toe with stars Etwaun Moore and eventual First-Team All-American JaJuan Johnson and made some cluch shots down the stretch to earn the 77-74 win. This would give the Tigers a huge confidence boost as they entered conference play hovering around a .500 record.

The Tigers would go on to win 10 of 11 games in the Southwestern Athletic Conference at one point and they took command of the SWAC for much of the regular season. However, they hit a bump in the road down the stretch as they lost four of seven games, uncluding two to nemesis Mississippi Valley State. The Tigers finished with a 13-5 conference record, tied with Jackson State and MVST. MVST won the tie-breaker however and would clinch the SWAC's NIT berth.

The Tigers faced off with the Arkansas Pine-Bluff Golden Lions in the First Round of the SWAC tournament, a team they easily knocked off in both of their regular season meetings. However, the defense played horrible and was killed by the consistant driving ability of the Golden Lions' PG as he scored 24 points and notched 10 assists, leading his team to a 82-77 upset win over the Tigers.

                    Recruiting Recap

The Tigers suffered a bitter end to an otherwise stellar first season under Coach Martinez as the team finished 19-13. Martinez hauled in a very good first recruiting class for the Tigers as they finished #48 overall in the final rankings.

They brought in two *** big men to replace the two bigs who graduated. They also brought in a *** PG so SG Danner-Johnson can move to the two guard, his natural position. Also, the Lions nabbed a *** Juco SG to come off the bench as a sixth-man next year...

Re: A Dual Career Coaching Legacy

                        TEXAS SOUTHERN SEASON 2 PREVIEW

Coach Martinez begins his second year as head coach with much higher expectations from the local media. The Tigers came one win away from 20 last season in Martinez's first year on the job, and the fan base and local journalists are eagarly anticipating that illusive first NCAA Tournament birth this season.

The Tigers graduated three players from their starting lineup last year, including leading scorer and rebounder PF Travele Jones. Jones was really the only inside presense the Tigers had last season, as he consistanly battled in the paint despite being a bit undersized (6'9'').

This year, the Tigers will likely be a more guard oriented team, as second leading scorer Lawrence Danner-Johnson returns from a good, but sometimes inconsistant freshman campaign. The Shooting guard averaged 11 points and a little over 5 assists per games last season playing at the point guard spot, but he will move back to his natual position at the two-guard with freshman PG Austen Mitchell coming in. He was Mr. Basketball from the state of Alaska (ranked #314 overall). Mitchell is not much of a scorer, but is a solid passer and will likely average between 5-7 assists per game in Martinez's pass-oriented offense.

Small Forward Adrian Clayborn will return for his junior season after scoring a little over 8 points per game last season. Clayborn is a good mid-range shooter, is decent from behind the arc, and also makes the occassional block.

Power forward will be manned by Freshman New Zealand import PF Damien Allen, who is a sturdy 6'9'' 247. Martinez's offense revolves around bigs who can rebound and make effort plays, and Allen should fit that role nicely. At center will be Freshman (ranked #414 overall) Laurence Garza, who stands a massive 7'1'' 274. He is very similar in ability to Allen in that he doesn't have much of an offensive game, but he is a big body who can help control the boards underneath so the guards will have more shot opportunites.

Coach Martinez has stated that the goal for his team is to reach 20 wins this year, but it will be difficult as he scheduled some tough non-conference games this year for the young Tigers. Some of the noteable games include:

                        @

@ (They signed THREE Five-stars in the off-season)

                        @(UCF with Marcus Jordan)

                        TEAM ROSTER

                        Bold denotes incoming recruits:

                        (FR) PG #5 Austen Mitchell 6'2'' 192 (65 Overall)
                        (SO) SG #11 Lawrence Danner-Johnson 6'5'' 189 (69 Overall)

I remember back when I was doing a dual legacy, I came across a legacy by you guys. I also remember the sliders you guys had and they were ridiculously tough. Definitely following especially cuz I had a UC Davis a while ago with the same rosters y'all are using (raiderfan's 2010-11 right?)
