Knoxville, TN -
Just a week after a near upset by the hands of Georgia, the Blazers lived up to their 28 point favoring and blew-out the Tennessee Vols 49-14. The win helped UAB clinch the SEC East Division title for the second straight season for the Blazers.
It was a special day for sophomore quarterback Adam Dyks who broke the career record for touchdowns. Needing three to tie and a fourth for the record controversy riddled the situation. At the end of the third quarter Dyks and the Blazers were on a very lengthy drive facing a second and goal from the 9-yard line. As the fourth quarter started the stadium rang with boo's as Dyks walked on the field to finish the drive.
"Our motto is finish, he had a great drive going and I let him finish, no disrespect to anyone on Tennessee."
Head coach Travis Rhatigan said.
Dyks would hit tight end Gary Singleton for his fourth scoring toss and the career record giving him 72 touchdown passes in just two years.
"I understand where the fans were coming from, but it didnt take anything away from the moment, blessed to have gotten this far with my career in a short time."
Dyks said. He would finish 15-20 for 304 yards and four touchdown passes.

The Blazers used a strong running game to set up Dyks passing attack, going against one of the worst defenses in the nation UAB bullied the Vols as Cody Gore gashed them for big runs in the opening quarter. The second quarter saw him hit the end zone twice putting UAB 14-0. A Interception by Vince Jones set up a 77 yard Bill Cooley touchdown catch and the route was on.

Tennessee would get on the board late in the second quarter as Davis found Justice in the back of the end zone, it was his only catch of the day but went for the score. Normally using the more aggressive style of play with blitz and zone blitz schemes Rhatigan allowed his defense to sit back and react. It worked in the tune of three coverage sacks and two interceptions. At the half UAB had a commanding 28-7 lead.

Dyks opened the half with a quick hitter to Travis Jackson who weaved his way through the Vols defense on his way to a 78 yard score. Tennessee's lone bright spot was tailback Nick Rich. On just seven carries he had 101 yards, but the deficit caused the Vols to go away from their play-making running back instead B. Holley would grab Tennessee's final score in the third quarter.
After Dyks final touchdown that broke the school's career record UAB brought in back-up Luke Willis to finish out the game, he would drive UAB to one final score. The defense capped the day off with back to back sacks and head to 10-0 on the year. Next up for the Blazers is their final home game vs the Florida Gators.
