    Re: Big Ten-Pac 12 partnership

This will be interesting. I think you are going to see the Rose Bowl pull out of the BCS at some point and crowning the champion between the B10 and the Pac 12. The B10 is going to a 9 games conference shedule soon coupled with a mandatory Pac10 game, that will leave only 2 non-conference games avaliable.

Delaney has all but said that with adding a conference championship game to the B10, it added one more hurdle for a national title and doesn't see or even really care if a B10 competes for a national title.

Its almost like the B10 and Pac12 are going to try to form their own NCAA universe. Its going to be expensive for Olympic sports though, but I am sure they will figure that out.

I could see some really nice rivalries forming between the two conferences between this and the Rose Bowl.

I went to the first night game at Michigan State. They beat USC. They met USC again in the Rose Bowl the same season and won. MSU played Oregon in the 1999 kick-off classic and won. Sure would be nice if they could get those wins on their resume again.

            I'm excited about this.

After the way the last home and home went, I'd sure love another shot at USC. Plus, it makes our schedule tougher, which is something that's very much needed (Although our future ones are looking tougher).

At the same time it's also gonna depend on how they schedule the games. Hopefully they match the top teams against each other. Probably wouldn't be as fun to see Colorado vs. Ohio State.

I like this, but I hate the idea of some teams playing in NFL stadiums. I rather watch the game at Folsom than Sports Authority Field(I think that's what it's called these days).

Agreed. If the teams don't want to do a home/home then they just should not play.

We'll probably not see the top teams playing each other. Thats what the Rose Bowl is for.

ND is gonna be under a TON of pressure now.

With the 9 game schedule in 2017 starting....that means only 3 OOC games. Now one is going to be against a BCS opponent no matter what.

Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, USC, and Stanford play Notre Dame nearly every year. You have to think that all the Big 10 schools are going to get out of that matchup as soon as possible.

Michigan having an OOC of directional MI, Notre Dame, Oregon? or MSU having directional MI, Stanford, ND? I don't think so. Noone is going to be doing that, especially with the extra conference game.

I think ND is going to have to join up or find a whole bunch of new opponents.....

It's a band-aid for expansion in the future, but it also serves a purpose of being the basis of a split from the NCAA in the future. If any other "mid-major" schools want in on the action, now's the time to start playing up to the big boys.

Actually, they plan on "matching teams of similar strengths." So Michigan for example will probably always end up with USC, Oregon, and other traditional Pac-12 teams.

Also, the 9 game conference schedule for the B1G is going to be scrapped because of this.

I had a chance to speak with Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany earlier this afternoon about the league's new scheduling and branding partnership with the Pac-12 Conference, set to begin in 2017 for football.
