    I Must Suck

Last year in 2k11 I played on HoF and faired pretty well (ie. getting realistic seasons in Association, etc.)

This year I just wanted to start on All-Star and I can't win a game. I have lost 5 games against the CPU all by 10 or less though. Is anyone else struggling with the difficulty or do I just suck?

I had the same problem bro. What I did to help me was turn on the shot timing feedback icon, and it helped me learn the releases of my players.

i was struggled at 2k12 as well when i first started playing. it just feels and plays a little different than 2k11, not necessarily harder for me, just different. but after about 10 games i was used to it and doing good again, just keep playing

Same thing happened to me. I remember in 2k11 my player mode, I would play hall of fame simulation and would be able to blow put my opponent every now and then. But 90% of the time we won. Now in 2k12 I lose on all-star.

You need sliders man, can't play on default.

Yeah, I know what your saying.

At one point in 2k11, I won 16 games in a row online.

In 2k12, I'm getting blown out quite a bit.

helps a lot, i always have it on, except now cause i dont need it and its distracting at times. I have a 96% shot rating, you can view it in your vip profile stat thing.

It's challenging. You have to play very frenquently to beat all star this year. I don't play enough but I find every game challenging and interesting post patch.

I also have turned on the full play display (on the advice of some OS people) and it helps a lot and makes the game a lot funnyer. I realised i was missing on a lot of options. I advice you do the same if you haven't already.

I cant play All Star to save my life

& I win like 50% of my games on Pro

Its so hard sometimes especially if youre not trying to use a team like the Heat and just keep using Stars... & If your defense is on auto playcall itll be terrible... Thing is I hate trying to set my defense on manual playcall because I have to keep choosing plays but the only time I get stops is when I choose Constant Preassure or Preassure Shooters...

And everytime I try to contest something a foul is called, while i get bumped so much (in the pain especially) and It just either gets blocked or miss, not to mention if youre down there is no way of a 3pter to fall, while the other tema if you just back up 3 feet itll fall

This is what I was thinking to get but Im not sure whats the best sliders... I dont want it to be too much in my favor but I want it to be realistic, what sliders do you use? and I use simulation btw not default but it doesnt make much difference

If you guys just started playing, you'll get better at it. This game has a fairly high learning curve. As you play you'll get a better sense of what you can and cannot do, sliders or no sliders. I've been playing 2k games for years and it took a while for me to get a decent feel for this game.

                        OP,

I will give you the tips I think you need to win at this game as I said in another thread. I don't know if you suck but you probably haven't mastered a lot of these things in the game.

I don't know what you have done already or what team you like to use but you must practice your playbook and know the hot spots for your team and release points if you are using shot stick timing.

                        1. Turn on shot stick feedback to make sure you are getting the correct release points for guys.
                        2. Turn on shot quality feedback to see if you are taking good shots with your players and to see how well the CPU can contest and how well you are contesting the CPU's shot.
                        3. You already said you do not go above all star so I say you stay at pro until you able to whip all teams even with below average teams consistently and plenty of people play on pro. I play on all-star and I have no reason to go to a level higher for many reasons against the CPU.
                        4. Learn your teams, players tendecies and most important ratings and attributes. Some are obvious but some are not so obvious as there a good bit of "good" guards who are horrible at med range but great at three point shooting. There are players that are great at turnarounds that will help you out when stuck in the post etc.
                        5. Learn the playbook you like but don't be limitted to that playbook what you will learn is that 2K's default playbook for your team and plays assigned to your players are not always the best to take advantage of your talent. You must run the plays in scrimmage mode to find out which ones can get you open looks and which ones don't.
                        6. Post game you must work on the post game controls to the point you feel you can execute them correctly in game. I would recommend practice mode with your top two post players. Don't try to turn average post players into Kevin Mchale in the post because their attributes are poor and you can execute the move but the success rate will be low.
                        7. On-ball defense well the on ball defense this year is a little tricky sometimes you can stop the defender other times they just slide by you. I don't know how well you defend with the sticks but this is very important skill you need to have in order to somewhat slow down the CPU. If you are a gambler you will be exposed so I say slow steady movements and always remember the left trigger for intense defense for slow movements. You must use that right stick and contest with Y to get the CPU to shoot bad shot quality shots
                        8. Defensive settings, you have to understand the ratings and tendecies of the CPU and adjust beforehand. Some players who are guards need to be doubled on drives other players you need to sag off others you need to deny the ball especially if they are good three point shooters. Check their ratings and attributes as some are obvious some might surprise you. This goes with defensive settings you may need to increase the coaches profile for certain settings if your team is not helping on defense or the pressure is not high enough.
                        10. There are some momentum swings in this game that you must call a timeout to try to get things back to normal when the CPU goes on a run. You must do this trust me.
                        11. Isomotion you must know isomotion to the point it can get you slightly open. The CPU for the most part has been unrealistic with their ability to play on ball defense but lately I think 2K tweaked it just a little to allow you to actually break the CPU off the dribble sometimes or get past a slower defender. It still isn't realistic but slightly better.
                        12. You must know the triple threat and how to explode out of this to get to the hole this is one of the best advices I can give because to me it is one the most effective moves post patch and latest roster updates. I say you need to know how to use 3-4 of the moves out the triple threat.

                          Re: I Must Suck

Alright, I have had Shot Quality and Timing Feedback (ON)
It seems most shots I take are A- to C+, but since I have Shot Quality Feedback to All Shots I can see the CPU and they are taking C- shots often and sinking them.

Anyways I have started playing with PuntNL's sliders and I absolutely love them. I definetly get a challenge out of them, but I can still win games.

Thanks to everyone who posted and offered tips. I really appreciate it!
