GREEN OVER WHITE
DYKS LEADS GREEN OVER WHITE 20-14

Birmingham, Ala
-- The Green team will be eating a steak dinner this week after posting a 20-14 win over the Gold in UAB's annual Green/White spring game. Members of the losing team will spend that same meal dining on hot dogs.
Adam Dyks quarterbacked the winning team, completing 16-of-29 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown and one interception.

The White drew first blood on a 40-yard field goal by Shane Jordan who by the way kicked for both teams, with 7:30 remaining in the first period. The Red answered with a 16-yard pass from Dyks to Matt Ford. Ford, coming back off a back injury, hauled in six passes for 62 yards.

The Red upped the lead to 14-3 with 1:04 left in the first when Lawrence Long ripped off an 32-yard run.

Jordan opened the second quarter scoring when he added a 36-yard field goal, but the Red answered before the half putting Jordan in range with a 28-yard field goal to go up 17-6.

Neither team scored again until the fourth quarter when the White got a 17-yard pass play from Marques Wright to Travis Jackson. The team added a two-point conversion to receiver Bill Cooley to cut the margin to 17-14, but Dyks with the help of Long got the Green squad into field goal range as Jordan tacked on a 25-yarder with 3:24 left to end the scoring.

Wright finished the game 11-of-24 for 76 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Jackson caught seven passes for 54 yards.

The top rusher in the game was Lawrence Long, who topped the Green team with 10 attempts for 65 yards. The White team leader was Ellis Fox with 12 rushes for 59 yards.

The game's leading tackler was White team linebacker Terry Jackson with eight. He also had an interception. The Red team was led in tackles by Carl Holycross and Timi McCollum with five each.

Freshmen (RS) wide receiver Travis Barnes saw his only action fielding punts, a great spring he had some think he'll compete during fall camp for a starting role.

"Our decondary and defensive line units look good, receivers ran good routes. I was surprised that our quarterbacks struggled a bit after a great spring but the defense is uasually on top of things when it comes to spring ball. Over all im excited about this team and look forward to the season."
~Travis Rhatigan

A crowd of 25,598 saw the game. The Sooners will conclude their spring practices with a final workout on Tuesday.
