Sounds to me to be a lot like the pitching in 2K6...
Pulse pitching is rhythmic, so it just oscillates in size from a larger circle to a smaller circle over and over, and you choose to time when you pitch it.

2K6, on the other hand, only shrinks once after slowly growing (when you're choosing how much effort you want to put on the pitch), and you have to time when it shrinks that one time. No continuous oscillation.

They're similar, but not identical.
