Sixers Lose Elton Brand for 2-4 Weeks

Just two minutes into the 2011 NBA season, Elton Brand fell to the floor in pain. He left game and did not return.

Later on, team doctors reported that Brand had a suffered a severe ankle sprain, and will be out for anywhere between 2-4 weeks.

In the meantime, Thaddeus Young will start at power forward for Philly, nothing too terrible as Young earned Player of the Game honors yesterday in the Sixers opener.

                          Brand Set for Early Return

After suffering an ankle sprain in the season opener against Toronto, doctors told Elton Brand that he would be out at least 2-4 weeks. However, just a week later, Brand plans on returning tonight to take on Dwight Howard, and his Orlando Magic.

It's only been a week but Brand says he feels good enough to return. Philadelphia 76ers team doctors told Brand they would allow him to return if he feels alright throughout the game.

"I just wanna play." Brand told BTD Sports reporter Aaron Moore, "and if I feel good enough....that's exactly what I'm gonna do."
