Game Notes
The main wildcard in this year's Alamo Bowl is Stanford's mindset. After being a game away from the national championship, being relegated all the way to the Alamo Bowl may be veyr deflating to the Cardinal, and if their minds are elsewhere, the Cowboys will quickly run them out of the building.

Oklahoma State's offense is as powerful as ever, led by star junior JW Walsh, a lethal dual-threat quarterback with 2702 passing yards in addition to 759 rushing yards. Walsh has thrown for 24 touchdowns and run for four more, while senior tailback Herschel Sims has carried the load on the ground with 870 yards and 11 touchdowns to go with an impressive 6.7 yards per carry. The Cowboys don't have an all-world receiver in the Dez Bryant or Justin Blackmon mold, but they boast a deep corps of reliable playmakers, led by senior wideout Kevin Johnson (58 catches, 939 yards, 12 TDs). Fullback Grant Goodwin is a surprisingly important target, often lining up as a sort of H-back, or as an extra tailback in pistol formations; he has 575 rushing yards and four scores, and 511 receiving yards and four more touchdowns via the catch. Other receiving threats for the Cowboys include junior Josh Stewart (20-270-4) and sophomores James Wise (24-422-2) and Rob Lynch (30-330-3). Redshirt sophomore tight end Quinton Mann (41-497-4) is one of the most promising young weapons in college football.

Defensively, third year sophomore outside linebacker Maurice Williams is the leader for the Pokes in tackles (74), TFL (24), and sacks (eight). The Cowboys have an under-appreciated defense due to their flashy, explosive offense, but they are capable of making plays, even if they are also prone to giving them up. Senior safety Deion Imade will have to be accounted for in all aspects of the game by Stanford.
