Again this is no knock b/c I understand the game is in different place now and there isn't a premium placed on lyrics.
I respect your post and agree with the opinion but you also have to consider that Hip Hop is young (early 70's) and the lyrical part of Rap didnt catch on until the late 80's and in the 90's....Thats only as decade...Def not enough to define a genre...We had a golden era, thats it..

Hip hop/rap was never about lyrics..Dudes were saying jibberish, toasting and saying repeatitive chants from the start...Thats how it got the name "rap"
