Your ratings look pretty good. I heard some chatter in another thread about Panik being an A prospect. Having played against him, he's a good player no doubt, but his ceiling isn't quite that high.

I've already stated a couple of times, in other threads, that I plan on creating Joe Panik as an A on my set.

As for his ceiling, it might not appear that high to some, but Panik is very highly skilled. He's as much of a pure baseball player as anyone in the minors along with Harper, Profar, Machado, Lindor, Rendon, Arenado, G. Brown, B. Jackson, W. Myers and a few others.

I just wanted to include that in the official thread for the Giants.

What I wanted to add is that Jarrett Parker is definitely deserving of a B.

It's your game, you're free to do what you want. We'll just agree to disagree on that one.

Joe Panik is definitely one of the players up for debate. I personally feel he deserves an A. I have him listed as a B for now.

So are you going to be creating a few players for the Giants for OSFM? I've seen Joseph, Panik, and Brown mentioned so far. Keep me in the loop with what you guys are planning. And if you need someone to handle the equipment for those guys, let me know. I actually already have it all ready in a spreadsheet.

As for Parker. He is definitely a fringe B. I'm waiting to hear from Knight about B potential players. He said we may be able to have more B potential players this year. Parker will be one who makes the leap.

Thanks for the input. Yea, Panik is an interesting player. I've heard people say they see a star in the making and I've heard others say he'll be a utility player in the future. I think somewhere in the middle makes sense.

I'm actually not helping, as of now, because I want the Canadian version and I'm not going to buy two versions. If I can get the game on time, I will try to help out as much as I can.

As for Parker, I'm pretty huge on him. I think he has as much potential as any player with his skill set in the minors.

Re: 2012 OSFM: San Francisco Giants

Just one thing about Parker and other Giants' prospects. As a good college player he should have performed well at High A San Jose and he was just decent. He does seem to have some plate discipline, as his high number of walks suggest, however that's balanced out by the fact that he ks a ton.

I think he'd have to show a lot in Richmond this year to make him a B prospect. While he has the athleticism and tools to be a pretty good prospect, there have been plenty of Giants minor leaguers who put up good/great cali league #'s then struggle in AA.

I guess that's why Knights proposed system is so intriguing. Parker would be the ideal 8/10 potential guy, but a low probability of reaching that ceiling/potential. He'd be an 8D or even 8E.

Again, the track record of the Giants is also a factor for me I guess. In seasons past I've been excited about guys like Noonan, Culbersson, Keishnick, Neal, etc. only to see them not project to the ceilings we heard about.

With a prospect like Parker, I could see myself giving him a B potential, but starting his attributes out low. That would be based off the old progression system though.

It's always fun to discuss Giants minor leaguers for me, and as I said before Juicer, I can help with anything.

You nailed it on Parker. The knock on him right now is that he has a long swing. Richmond could be a dangerous jump too. The CAL league is always known as a hitter's league and the Eastern league is always viewed as a pitcher's league. He really needs to shorten up his swing and utilize those tools a bit more.

Yea, I will definitely appreciate your help with this roster. It's a lot more fun when you have fellow Giant fans contributing. Right now, there isn't much to do. Last year I made the mistake of trying to have everything mapped out before the game was even released. This year my approach is to just get things organized.

I'm going to try to get a preliminary 90 man roster up sometime this week that will include potentials for the players we need to create.

Let me know what you would like to help out with. If you just want to help figure out potentials, ratings, and who makes the cut, that would be great! If you want to get involved in the actual creating process, even better!

What spreadsheet do you use? Is there a bulk upload format or do you have to make changes player by player?
The Giants are number 1! Everyone else is second or lower....
