What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
After all the bugs and glitches , not to mention the very very bad gameplay from NCAA 12 , what should we really expect from 13 ? I for one have no confidence that it will be much better. This team has proven they cannot fix problems from year to year so why should 13 be any different ?Tags: None -
Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
Caveat: I've avoided moving up to '12 after reading all the problem threads posted here and everywhere (but just added wireless to apt so may jump on a discounted '12, though, since I can now get tuners/patches).
As for '13? I think NCAA followers will see a better, less glitchy, game.
Reasoning? In this 'want it now' day and age of technology, one bad year can be chalked up to....whatever/something. TWO consecutive bad ones, well, I think it'd be the end of the series if the outcry for '13 mimics '12.
(Consecutive bad years fatally ruining a reputation? Lets look at the Palm Pre phones, and pretty much everything but printers for, coincidentally, HP)
I think EA recognizes this, and that they will put in the extra time, bucks, whatever it takes, to bring us a better game with '13. -

I respectfully disagree with you...NCAA did have its fair share of bugs and glitches but the Dev team hasn't proven anything one way or the other in my opinion. The game had its good and bad parts, and honestly...I thought the gameplay wasn't all that bad (other than the super LBs and psychic DBs that is) not to mention the fact that sliders corrected many of the gripes myself and others had with the gameplay. After all the bugs and glitches , not to mention the very very bad gameplay from NCAA 12 , what should we really expect from 13 ? This team improved NCAA 12 into a better product than it was when they made NCAA 11 and I have a sneaking suspicion that they might surprise you this year...another year with the same core team and same engine that gave us some strides in the right direction this season, and there is no reason to not be reasonably optimistic with NCAA 13.Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

People always say I had no problem with gameplay ACCEPT FOR , etc , etc . You left off that the option game is very bad , sure it works out of the shotgun a little but try to run it from the pistol or flexbone. I do hope you are right about them surprising me though .I respectfully disagree with you...NCAA did have its fair share of bugs and glitches but the Dev team hasn't proven anything one way or the other in my opinion. Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
That's true...I agree with the pistol (for the most part), but the flexbone is something that I've had a lot of success with in my dynasties and in online play. The trick to flexbone is knowing the defense your up against and picking the right play to counter it (versus the pistol just being broken unless they rush 3 or 4 lol).
But I definitely feel your pain with this game and I while I personally don't have huge issues with most of the gameplay, I can see how other people do and I'm with ya 100% in hoping we get an even better product in NCAA 13Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
I'm honestly expecting a new commentary team. There is no way they are going to have a game with the same lines still being used 10 years later. I don't know, but I have a strong feeling this will be addressed this year. The developers even said that a big goal of their's is to make the game feel different than the last one. What a better way to do that then having a new commentary team?Comment

Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
I say we can expect some glitches and then a patch. Followed by another patch to fix stuff the 1st patch broke that had nothing to do with the 1st patch. Possibly a 3rd patch, but all in all we are left with what we are currently playing nowComment

Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
The commentary team should be the last of EA's concern. The gameplay is crap. I've had about enough of team entrances, band locations, cannon placement, & and other fluff, that attempts to divert attention from the atrocity that is gamepley. Its a joke. There is no weight or momentum to players. Defensive lineman change direction on a dime. Ratings don't matter. Why do db's react to a ball in the air, yet the wr's don't? There is so much wrong with this game, the commentary team should be about #1874 on EA's priority list.Last edited by Scrapps; 02-15-2012, 03:57 PM.Comment

They focus on that stuff because communities like ours go apesh*t over that stuff. We can only blame ourselves when threads are made about sock height and the irate reactions that stem from it.The commentary team should be the last of EA's concern. The gameplay is crap. Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
I really expect they attempt to fix WR/DB interaction now that they'v addressed zone coverage in 12, they can really focus on man. I know for years now wev been crying out for them to fix this but hey call me optimistic. I think that is very high on their list for this years game along with ball trajectory and super human LBs (or w/e everyone likes to call them).
Then probably some changes to online dynasty and adding to coaching carousel.Comment

Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
That sounds like a realistic amount of expectations for them to improve for 13. I think that's also a good point about zone being fixed and the next logical step being man coverage and those super LBs lol...hopefully your right and all our expectations can be met with a reasonable amount of progressI really expect they attempt to fix WR/DB interaction now that they'v addressed zone coverage in 12, they can really focus on man. Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
Its taken them a while now to finally turn things around but i think this year will be a huge step forward in terms of just getting the gameplay to look "right". For example I see them getting WR/DB jostling in and player positioning to actually look good for this year and a good foundation for player logic. Then for NCAA 14 we'll really see great AI improvements. Things such as pass interference and defensive holding I don't expect to see this year but hey you never know.Last edited by johnnyg713; 02-16-2012, 01:03 AM.Comment

Re: What should we really expect from NCAA 13 ?
Even for me, this year's title felt stale... That is saying a lot considering I've always loved this game and have bought it every year it has existed.
But it's time. EA has to step their game up. People, as a whole, seem to not be happy with this game. I am not just talking about OS, either. People who I know that have been loyal to this game are jumping off of the ship and not buying this game - and the kicker is that most of them are not sim gamers. They could not care less about accurate rosters, progression, being able to have duplicate jersey numbers, dreadlocks, helmet logo placement, or the countless other issues that we go on and on about. That, to me, signifies that the game at its core is losing its luster. The commentary is a joke... Though I do believe that that is the least of EA's concerns with this game.
They need to find a way to actually capture the ATMOSPHERE of college football, as there is NOTHING else like it in the sports world - anywhere. It's about rivalries, recruiting, bands, fight songs... By bands, I am not talking about the placement of them, but the actual sound of them... I don't know, to me, EA has not captured the atmosphere and I am not even sure if they're trying to.
I say it every year... Though I like the game, and I will buy it every year, it is underwhelming when you consider what it *could* be. No one will ever be able to convince me that sim gamers don't speak for the masses anymore - look at MLB The Show - the top ranked sports game in the entire market for four years running. At this point I am just babbling but the gist of what I'm saying is simple - this game, while worth a purchase... Does not go above expectations at all and seems stuck and stale. Maybe therein lies the problem. The game is good enough (to me at least) to justify a purchase, but at the end of the day, you just feel something huge is missing and you buy it because as far as college football goes, this is it.
They seriously need to step their damn game up with this title.Comment

I cant really get into NCAA 12 anymore. Every time I play, Game play is the main reason why I cant really feel immersed. Atmosphere definitely needs BIG improvements, but Gameplay has to be #1 priority. It seems as if they hit the limit of what they can do with gameplay and just make small adjustments and just find other aspects of the game to work on.
I dont think there will be a new commentary team. If anything, I think they will just add alot more lines and take out some old lines. Commentary as of now is just good for Play Now and Online games. What I like about 2k commentary is that you feel apart of a season and it tells what is happening during the game. What hurts NCAA Commentary IMO is that since all the players basically generic, they only have a few lines that a directed at detailing a player. I want to hear the commentators be more aware of whats going on in game/in seasonComment

I know that they are fixing band locations. They are making big improvements with the commentary this year & that they want to implement ESPN College Gameday into the game. They want to add storylines into the game also.Last edited by 22cedric; 02-16-2012, 09:11 AM.Comment
