How is what not an equally poor decision? Releasing a GOTY sports game? When has that ever been done before? The YEAR isn't even halfway done yet and they are releasing a GOTY version? What?
And LBP GOTY came out one year (almost to the date) after LBP. It included DLC costumes that cost $4, for free, and other levels created by LBP users. It didn't include a totally new mode and the ability to do things that should have been in the original game, like this DLC is. MK (the other you mentioned) came out 10 months ago and the GOTY is still not out yet, and is just a rumor.
NBA 2k12 was released October 2011, the season is still going on, and this is being released 5 months later, with DLC for free that was released what, 3 months prior? It's sold 4 million units, NBA 2k11 has sold 5.5m I believe. I think this is a drastic move to make that also alienates loyal customers. I think they could make up 1.5m in sales by the end of the season without also providing the DLC for free. My only problem is with what seems like unfairness regarding DLC. I know there's nothing I can do about it. I know it probably happened in other genres but I don't think it has ever happened in sports and I don't want it to happen. This is how it starts, and I don't want to see how it ends.
