    Explain Real Player % please

What exactly does this mean? Does anybody know for sure? Is any given shot's success "random" based on the players shooting percentage? Does timing matter at all? Does this calulation fluctuate as a players % fluctuates in a given season in association? What about rookies?

Would like to know this as well, I use shot stick for game action but % for free throws? Not sure why I do this though? I want to use the stick not the square button, I want more shot variety. But if I use %, can I be totally off with the stick and it won't matter?

I believe if you have it on real player % the timing does matter a bit, but the shots will be mostly based off of the players shooting %. I use shot stick timing because I like to be in control of my players and control if they hit their shots or not. If you want to use shot stick for free throws but find them too easy, just up the difficulty. I play on superstar difficultly and turned free throws up to 55. I find i miss a good amount. Tyson Chandler's timing is hard to get down!

so what about a rookie in their first game? their shooting % would be zero. Do they miss all their shots? i wish 2k would explain this.

I would assume 2k goes with their career shooting % in college or makes some sort of estimate on how they think the rookies game translates to the NBA.

real % goes off rating, and they get the rating from previous season %'s and such.

so in turn it kinda goes off past seasons in the sense that thats where the rating comes from but it goes off of rating. thats how rookies dont miss every shot and how ratings like shot in traffic change %'s.

Using FG% - your shot percentages arent artificially inflated like they are with shot stick. The players spacing, and their attributes also affect the shot percentage. FG% doesn't hinder your results based on how well you've practiced a particular players shot form. The result is neutral, consistent, and realistic. I recommend using field goal % and shooting with the shot stick "as if" your relying on Shot stick timing. Focus on 'playing real basketball' than button timing.

Re: Explain Real Player % please

so let me see if im following here and maybe ask a few follow up question...

so real-player % is strictly based off the players attributes, then if he is covered or shooting with a hand in the fact or driving for a lay up that results in contact then game takes his rating but then adds a pentalty to his rating?

and along with this shot stick timing matters very little but just 4 the execution and beauty of the shots we should still try to shot as if shot stick timing mattered even tho it really doesnt.

so if im understanding this right then i can understand the value of real player %. but here is my follow up question....

if real player % does all the things that i now think that i understand it to do, why do ppl still lower the shooting sliders? does real player % make having to adjust the sliders irrelevent?

People lower it to make the stats more realistic.

If you notice the game's shooting % is higher than in real life so lower it make it close to realistic and for rebound stats.

Re: Explain Real Player % please

People use sliders with realFG% because of 2 main reasons:

                    1. A human rarely plays exactly as the team/players themselves.
Play a game and see if you attempt/make the same amount of inside, close, mid and 3s with all the players of a given team, as they averaged last season. CPU dont either due to the default tendencies being off too.

                    2. Ratings assigned by default arent accurate to real life FG%s.
And that is without considering that there is inherit difference between the results of a rating for sim and for gameplay.

Anyways, have always used shot stick but just because of preference ... nah, due to tradition.

Re: Explain Real Player % please

                      So, here we go.

Real Player % is based off of ratings for the most part. Defensive pressure and timing are still important, but not as significant as using the Shot Stick.

Shot Stick bases it more off of timing and defensive pressure. It still takes in ratings, but is more so based off of timing.

                      So, in short:

                      Real Player- Ratings>Timing
                      Shot Stick- Timing>Ratings

Using Real Player % will not give you a realistic FG% from a certain range for most players. Some players are rated realistically, but others are not. Kemba Walker's mid-range rating is 83, while last year he made 34% of his mid-range shots. He's basically automatic with an 83, even with Real Player %.

Real Player % is dependent on ratings, and should lead to more realistic results, but the ratings are off.

I am extremly confused regarding this.It seems like it either doesn't matter your rating and it's only about shot timing (if you use shot timing) or it's only about your rating and the timing doesn't matter at all even if your shot was contested(and it will randomly go in or not based on your rating)

Can anybody with better knowledge explain.

                            Thanks

i tend to hit way more shots with shot stick timing
