2012 OSFM: World Champion St. Louis Cardinals

Messing around with google docs. Its filled in with what I haves done so far. Faces on all are needed as well as input on stances/motions.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...5dXE2Tmc#gid=4

    Projected Lineup
    vRH

    SS Furcal
    RF Beltran
    LF Holliday
    1B Berkman
    3B Freese
    CF Jay
    C Molina
    2B Descalsco

vs. L (Not all. I'm not anticipating a straight platoon at 2B)
    SS Furcal
    RF Beltran
    LF Holliday
    1B Berkman
    3B Freese
    C Molina
    CF Jay
    2B Greene

    Bench on most days
C Cruz/Anderson. Matheny likes Anderson a lot, I'm giving him the edge
    2B-OF Schumaker
    SS-2B Greene
    OF Chambers
3B Carpenter. Think he gets the last spot over 1B Hamilton. Keeps it warm for Craig who will be DL'd the first month.

    Rotation
    SP Carpenter
    SP Wainwright
    SP Garcia
    SP Lohse
SP Westbrook (PLEASE SIGN OSWALT. WESTBROOK IS A BUM)

    CP Motte
    RP Salas
    RP Rzcepczynski
    RP Romero
    RP Lynn
    RP Boggs
    RP McClellan/Sanchez

Kind of a messy picture in bullpen. One of McClellan/Salas/Lynn/Sanchez will start season in AAA. Also possibility someone like Boggs/McClellan are traded. So one Right hander will not be on club. They will carry 12 pitchers.

OK fellas, much like the other OSFM threads this is the place to discuss the Cardinals Full Minors. This is a very deep system, so expect to see a lot of B potential prospects.

The only real roster spots up for grabs is the last bench spot, the backup catcher spot and the guy (Rule V'er Komatsu or Adron Chambers) that gets a spot due to Craig likely beginning the season on the DL.

The bullpen is very much up in the air. The Cardinals are set from the left side (Scrabble and Romero). The right side is very much in question. Plenty of options, wouldn't surprise me if they made a trade in the spring.

Anyways, down to the good stuff. These are the CAPS under consideration for a spot on OSFM. Can only have 90 total, so several of these players won't make the cut.

    Pitchers on 40 man * = Needs a CAP () = Estimated Potential

    Boggs
    Carpenter
    Cleto
    Dickson
    Chuckie Fick* (B)
    Sam Freeman* (C)
    Garcia
    Lohse
    Lynn
    McClellan
    Motte
    Adam Ottavino* (C)
    Adam Reifer* (B)
    Romero
    Rzcepczynski
    Salas
    Sanchez
    Wainwright
    Westbrook

    Catchers

    Bryan Anderson* (C)
    Cruz
    Molina

    Infielders

    Carpenter
    Zack Cox* (B)
    Descalsco
    Freese
    Furcal
    Greene
    Hamilton
    Kozma
    Schumaker

    Outfielders

    Beltran
    Berkman
    Chambers
    Craig
    Holliday
    Jay
Erik Komatsu* (C/D) Rule V Likely not gonna be CAP. Wont make team.
    Robinson

So thats 39 players. 38 if no Komatsu, which is likely.

Notable NRI's already in game (Should be). Don't see any making the club.

Have my initial projection for the roster. Bullpen and some bench spots are up for grabs. Lineup is pretty much set barring injuries. Will update if I get any more info on anything.

As far as Erik Komatsu goes, he was a Rule V pick from Washington, and I don't think he has a shot at making the team, so should I still create him? Or should I leave that to the guy thats doing the Nationals?

I think you should. With Craig hurt and out for a while, doesn't he have a good chance to stick with the team?

I think unless Komatsu completely blows it, or Chambers has an amazing ST it is likely Komatsu breaks with the big club at least until Craig is healthy. They will want to see what he's got for as long as they can.

ilstu24, I'm not sure if you have seen this or not, but Robert Stock is being converted to a pitcher.

Just saw this. Leaning towards not including him then since he will most likely be starting over and probably be in rookie ball this year.

I think it's a good idea to not include him. He pitched in college, so you could probably find out what pitches he throws, but it would be difficult to assign ratings when he hasn't pitched in years.

I say include him as a last resort if you can't find any other guys to put in (which I doubt). It says he can throw in the upper 90s, that's always a plus.

I guess the D potential I gave Stock last year was too high.

Hey, are you going to put in Kolten Wong? He should be the future at 2B. Looks like he tore up the minors last year and could potentially be on the team late this year/next year?
