Which QB would you choose [Madden 12]

Hi guys,

I am in a Madden 12 franchise and am thinking about picking up a FA and releasing a third string. I am the Redskins and I might get rid of Grossman next season. Anyways, here are the attributes (image below). Crompton is the third stringer I have now and Hanie is who I want to pick up.



The biggest difference between these two QB's is Hanie's awareness is 72 and Cromptons is 42. Is that big enough to make this release/sign?

If I sign Hanie and play him throughout the season and he does good, can the attributes increase after the season? I am looking for potential trade value for Hanie also in the future.

I would say Crompton also stats look pretty close but Crompton as better throw on the Run .

I'd pick Hanie. To me, that AWR difference is significant, especially on an inaccurate QB like either one of these.

Maybe it's the sliders I play on, but AWR has a big impact on my QB, even User controlling him. Seems to impact accuracy/reaction of the defenders.

Also, what are their traits? Sense Pressure? Force Passes? These have an impact on the play results. Force passes seems to impact INTs in close situations (i.e. throwing in tight coverage, etc) and Sense Pressure seems to impact accuracy when a defender is coming at him. Again, even with user control these modifiers seem to exist.

I would take Crompton hands down if you play most of your franchise games. The QB awarness means nothing unless your siming games and then it will have a bigger effect on how your QB plays. The other factor to take into consideration is the progression of attributes I'm pretty sure throwing power is like speed and will never increase. Throwing accuracy will always increase as well as awareness if you QB is having a good season. But like I said if your simming games go with the QB with higher awareness Cromptons is to low to ever increase enough via simming to be worth starting.

Actually, I beg to differ on the QB AWR asseveration...

USER QB AWR determines how "smart" the CPU is when defending...

Low AWR QBs face a tougher / smarter D than a high AWR QB...

It's easy to test...

Take a team like the Pats or Packers, set up to play with the starter, then switch to the backup and observe...

More guys open / wider throw windows...

Anyway:

Played with Crompton for 3 seasons and I have to say, he's my ideal QB...

Low AWR (challenge) and a rocket arm (96 THP?)...

Throws on the run well and runs out of a rollout nicely...

Since he's a "C" potential, he doesn't really progress...so that's a plus to me as well...

As you get better at the game, using him, learning the plays that work best, etc...the results get better due to USER skill, as opposed to jacked progression...

Best part?

Crompton has no career stats, so any stats you accumulate using him are "your" stats...

Haven't enjoyed a rookie / journeyman QB this much in Madden since P. Ramsey was drafted into the Spurrier era 'Skins...

I wouldn't choose the packers for that experiment, flynn has fairly high awareness. Use pats or saints.

As for the OP, I typically keep Crompton on my roster and release Beck. Unless you start Beck he's useless after the first season because he always degresses.

Crompton has a nice throw on the run rating and a good arm, but I've never used him extensively and I would think Hanie would be a better option potential-wise.

But we all know OVR is nothing but a number so I would just test them out and see who plays best.

Regardless, the high THP and the fact you can run over some tacklers with this guy gives him a lot of upside, IMHO...

That and the fact that he currently has no "career stats", so he's a virtual rookie...

Haine, better awarness and the toned down throw power works well with the accuracy. No sense in him throwing deep balls if it's gonna go too far.
