Da'Quan Bowers and weird free agency

At the start of the second season of my Seahawks franchise (2013) I take a look at the FA list before the 1st preseason game and lo and behold there is Da'Quan Bowers, the 2nd year stud LE.

First of all, he's entering his 2nd year of football, so clearly he had been cut or released from his team even though he was under contract. Secondly, he has an 83 OVR with an "A" potential and he's only 22!
To top it off, his asking price is the LEAGUE MINIMUM! It cost me $380k to sign him and apparently everyone else left him alone.

So my question is - Has anyone else noticed some inexplicable FA players at the start of preseason? Is this a glitch or is there some kind of logic that I'm missing? I can't for the life of me figure out why a team would let him go, and why no one else picked him up for the league minimum.

It's things like this that force me to make my own "home franchise" rules to keep from exploiting poor franchise AI.

I've seen Urlacher, Peyton Manning, and Meachem... in the same season

Happens during Cut Days, since CPU can't see the true overall of the player, they cut Bowers who appeared to be lower at the time. Unfortunate, I know...No workaround that I know of other than to control all 32 teams and cut all UDFA before the start of each season.

I can see urlacher and Peyton because they are at the end of their career. You always see over the hill players available if the team that had them is looking to start fresh. Just think of junior seau going to the patriots. Meachem is stuck in an offense where the ball is constantly passed around, there is no star on the field other than brees. Meachem is expendable.

Meacham is actually a free agent. The Bowers thing is absolutely ridiculous and really ruins franchise for me.

I remember the first year of my franchise, the Jets release Muhammad Wilkerson, DT. He was only rated like 78 or something, but he was a first round pick in his rookie season with A potential and wound up being one of the best players on my team since I signed him. The only other time I've seen it happen is when the Cards released Sam Acho after he earned Defensive MVP honors and no one wanted to sign him.

I saw arian foster in the fa list at 97 overall, apparently, 2 years before, that picked a stud HB that is 99 ovr now.

except op is talking about bowers entering his second year, having already an 83 overall from his rookie year. its proly that the bucs drafted somebody with a higher rating plus already having michael bennett.

No mc93 OS correct. He's entering his second season which means his rating isn't hidden in preseason anymore. Unless Tampa drafted another young end who is a rookie and his hidden rating appeared to be higher than bowers?

I ended up with Allen Bailey, DE from Miami, the same way. Generally, you can find a lot of good young DEs. The Eagles also cut a guy named Graham pretty regularly.

I'll go through after the last pre-season game and see what the FA pickings are. Playing the Seahawks, I think it's legitimate to have a high turnover rate

Tampa cut him in 1st preseason and he is still rotting.

It gets too easy for me to build a super team if I don't ignore them.

The screwed up preseason/UDFA thing totally throws off the CPU roster management. As a result, CPU teams' logic is worse than ever. I appreciate EA trying to add stuff to Franchise Mode, but this year all they did was screw it up worse.
