    Knuckleballers?!

Just playing the demo here, which I am really enjoying, and as I was finishing my beer I thought to myself.......how does this new mechanic about using a pitch too much affect knuckleballers in the game?

I know Wakefield just retired but, he throws about 85-90% knuckleballs in a game, what would happen to his pitch rating for throwing it too much?

    Just a thought.

As a former collegiate pitcher, sometimes I'd use the same pitch over and over to make the offense adjust to me if they were stubborn......other times, going to the well once too often resulted in many a bomb I let up.

I am intrigued by the new mechanic as I like innovation and creativeness, however, I am curious about it.

i think it goes off that players scouting report.. as in if wakefield throws it about 80-85% of the time it either wont take a hit at all or once you get to the 95-100% range

      That's exactly correct.

Similarly, Mariano Rivera throws the Cutter 89% of the time, so you can throw that pitch 9 out of 10 times with Mo and suffer no ill consequences (basically, you CAN throw it every pitch with him, not that you'd necessarily want to, but there are so few pitchers with ratios like that... this kind of scenario will be a very rare and minor factor).

As others have said it has to do with going over a pitchers "normal range."

So if you throw a pitcher 80% of the time, you would only see penalties once you throw it 81% or more in a game.

What I really wonder is how will these percentages be determined for generated rookies? Or in MyPlayer mode?

Lets say for example I start a new "MyPlayer" pitcher. And I decide to start him off with a Fastball and a Curveball.... Since I just created the guy what determines my Fastball % and Curveball %? Also what if I add a new pitch as I build up more skill?

I'll be curious to see how they approached that.

Anyone have a link to where it details how the feature works?
