Re: MLB 12 The Show - Examples in Gameplay: Part 2
Thanks a lot Steve, for the second set of gameplay videos. It is such a pleasure to contribute and participate to this great OS community. My question pertains to the video with Bard making the quick throw. Can we only trigger the quick, and appropriate throw animation when we press the button or analog stick at the exact correct moment? If we fail to have perfect timing, will the pathetic pump and throw animation trigger itself still? I hope that SCEA gave the players awareness so that the pump throw animation is Finally removed after sooo many years of unnecessarily being in this great game. I simply adore MLB : The Show and it is the one-and-only game I own and ever play. ThanksComment

I felt that it was too easy to bunt for a base hit in '11. Hopefully that quick animation fixes that.Comment

And I agree with a couple of others regarding the 3B runner in #7 standing in the field of play. Should be titled "lack of base runner awareness." Most of the rest certainly looks good, though.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Examples in Gameplay: Part 2
I'll assume he would make the routine plays, but that was a really tough play even for a 3b. Therefore, he wasn't able to get there.
I think this is so much better than past games where I could play Manny at shortstop if I wanted. Now if we could just get outfielder range integrated...
I agree that wasn't a routine play for the 3B, but the point of the video was to show off how players "out of position" will struggle. A SS or 2B playing at 3B shouldn't struggle picking up a ground ball just because they're fielding it from 3B.Comment

Fielding a ball at 3b is a totally different beast than fielding a ball in the middle. And like what was said earlier it wasn't exactly a routine ball.Joshua:

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Examples in Gameplay: Part 2
I have some feedback for Russell and the Show Game Designers regarding video #7.
As a baserunner, we are tought to remain in foul territory before, during and shortly after the pitch when leading off from third.
As the pitcher goes through his windup, we are creeping towards homeplate, trying to time so that all of our weight is on our front foot as the catcher receives the pitch.
If it is taken or swung at and missed we then peek at the third baseman to see if he is at the bag. If he isn't we sag and stay with out lead. If he is at the bag, we then cross into fair territory and head back to the bag, so that we may obstruct the third baseman and potentially get hit by the snap throw.
In Video #7 the baserunner is on the foul line with his body facing the pitcher. He should be 3 to 5 feet behind the foul line with his chest facing the catcher but his hips facing the pitcher.Comment

Great idea. Good job, OS.
Love the hustle. Are we going to have a rating affecting that, so the Eckstein kind of guys can be distinguished from the Bobby Bonillas?Last edited by JoeRyan33; 03-01-2012, 03:37 AM.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K
Thanks to all that helped with the Baltimore Orioles roster, and to N51_rob for making me an OS premium member.

Agree with Skyboxer. A middle IF should not have the exact defensive rating at 3B - the angles off the bat are different, the reaction time is different, and the spin of the ball is different. Does this mean they should muff every ball that comes their way? No. But SCEA didn't say that was the case, they only said they would take a ratings hit.
I guess you can never please everyone - first people complain that players playing out of position aren't penalized enough and now we're complaining because they are.
