I know we have an online forum, but with the previous issues in the MLB games, a thread devoted to your online experiences is warranted for now.

Just had a game against Ramone. I live in Baltimore, he's playing in San Diego. I was on wireless (forgot to switch over).

Orioles win it 3-2 over Ramone's Rays, on a last second play at the plate by Nick Markakis. Luke Scott hit a line drive to right, and pinch runner Sam Fuld decided to try out a Gold Glover's cannon.

I must say - completely impressed at the lack of lag, especially considering I was on wireless. I had no issues batting (using Zone batting) or pitching (Pulse). We had no traffic delays, and if there was lag, it was not noticeable to me (someone who quit playing the game online a week in last year due to the intolerable batting lag).

Really interested to hear other's experiences.

I've played one game so far and it was silky smooth. Only issue I had was the pulse pitching. Pitching on HOF was a BIG "B".

Very impressed with the lack of lag. Hopefully this keeps up!!!

Also played Ramone earlier and I too am on a wireless connection (Florida). So much better in comparison to last year - we had an exciting game through 6 innings (2-2 game) and I had the bases loaded with 1 out (IIRC), unfortunately the game disconnected due to heavy volume which is totally understandable on launch day.


I called it quits with Online play in MLB 11 pretty much right out of the gate (timing issue killed it) but I can definitely say that won't happen this year if it's going to play like it did earlier today.

Just played and it was no where near smooth. Bimmer and I just played. Well 2 innings worth before we had to quit.
Same things as before.. lag right during pitch, Full swings tiurning into check swings etc...

What sucks is for about 1/2 inning it played pretty good. Got hopes up.. lol

I can't make a complete online comparison to last year since I only played one online game so far in MLB 12, but I do have some impressions.

∙ It did have some latency but not any lag - if that makes sense. In other words, I had to swing earlier than I would have in an offline game. This could have been his connection.

∙ Wish the anti aliasing could be used online but not a big deal

∙ I didn't have to mute the announcers ! Last year, before every online game, I had to mute the announcers, but since SCEA streamlined the front end menus this year, all settings are applied correctly.

∙ I didn't see any swing animation oddities like I used to in 11

I wanna try the HR derby online, but it seems you need to have a friend online for this ? I guess you can't challenge random people.

Not really surprised. Never thought I'd say this but the game is so good offline that I'm okay with not being able to play online.

Played 3 online games so far from in the game room lobbys. No lag in any of them. I was not able to use the play now feature. It did not seem like it was activated yet.

I got 3 or 4 full games in, including a Diamond Dynasty game. These were all Play Now games (didn't have an issue finding a game, my major settings were all star to start, guess pitch off, zones off, balks on). I used Zone Batting and Meter Pitching. 1 or 2 games dropped after the Top of the 1st (I was the home team). Not sure if those were connection issues, server overload or they just didn't wanna face Pineda anymore.. The full games I got in were real good connection wise. I'd say the green connection bar flashed to yellow once or twice per game (no more than 5 secs). It never caused me to miss the release when pitching or affected my timing when hitting. The timing issue from last year doesn't seem to an issue this year. I definitely wasn't striking out 10+ a game, which was the norm last year. It also took me about 3 or 4 innings to get adjusted to the online timing because I've been playing a lot offline the past few days. After that I was in business. This was All Star, tomorrow I'll try HOF and see how it plays online.

Diamond Dynasty game had zero lag.. Person I played tried to be a little cheap with the early steals but in the end good pitching conquers all. Had a lot of fun with this. You could get lost in the team customization, so much to do.

Not bad at all for day 1.

i was playing a guy in my online league and i was the dodgers v indians. i was up 2-1 in the bottom of the second and the connection crapped out. i was recorded with a lose and he got a win! wth?!? this is my first yr playing the show since 07. i hope this isnt a reacquiring theme when playing online. if it is i'll be HIGHLY disappointed!

I played one exhibition game and and it wasn't too bad. It better noticably better than any game I play in MLB 11 online. Lost 5-3 but had a good time. Very encouraged right now...will get a few more in to get a better perspective but so far I'm 1 for 1 in successful online matches.

does everyone else have a constant loading thing on bottom right of screen when they are online?
