            A. Radulov with a beautiful long lead pass to R. Johansen who finds M. Pacioretty for a beautiful 5-hole goal!

            S. Mason robbs T. Vanek of the Buffalo Sabres with a beautiful pad save!

G S. Mason with a blocker save against RW P. Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks. What an outstanding preseason for him!

            R. Johansen firing of a shot for an empty net goal against the Avalanche!

              SCOTT HOWSON STEPS DOWN
Canadian GM Quits After More Than 4 Years - Follower?

COLUMBUS - - "Stepping down after another year of postseason absence was the right decision, I guess. This team has potential, this team has a leader but this team needs some new faces in the management.", Scott Howson, ex-GM of the Columbus Blue Jackets, said at a short-term press conference this morning at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. "They are already searching for an new GM and I am assisting them in any possible way. Maybe they also need to find a new headcoach. I had a long conversation with Scott (Arniel) yesterday, and he also thinks a change would be the best for this team. He needs some time now to think about it, and will then make a decision. So there is a lot of work to do in the next few days. We already have some names, but nothing concrete." The Blue Jackets management should act quickly now, finding a new GM as well as possibly a new Headcoach, with the start of the regular season only 45 days away. Headcoach Scott Arniel wasn't available for any comments at this point.

Good luck with Columbus. Great layouts. I'm Dutch and have the same problem. Don't worry, it looks good so far.

Thanks man, appreciate it! Next post comming in a few minutes, and I'll change the banners when back from work later today, as they are a bit to wide (original) and so they get reduced by the forum.

                    COACH SCOTT ARNIEL QUITS ASWELL
First candidates announced, but nothing concrete - rumors begin

                    Tuesday, 07.16.2011 / 14:33 PM / Photo: thehockeywriters.com

COLUMBUS - - "I had a long chat with Scott (Howson) yesterday and of course with my family. We came to the conclusion, that quiting now would be the best for the team as well as for me. When I took over the team last year, we declared the playoffs as our goal. We didn't make it, and it's easier to change the coach, than to change the whole team. And as I said it all time during last year, this team has great potential, the just need the right guy to explode. Unfortunatly I haven't been this guy. So it's time to quit for now. Maybe I'll come back with another team. We'll see.", Scott Arniel said at todays press conference at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. So within 2 days, the 2 most important person behind the boards left the Columbus Blue Jackets. Yesterday Scott Howson, ex-GM, announced that they are already searching for alternatives and some sources report that an Ohio born retired hockey player will take over as GM, while maybe Tyler Wright, Development Coach of the Blue Jackets could be named the new headcoach of the Columbus franchise. "Yes, they already came to me, but thats a decision I have to overthink. I've I have done so, you'll get to know it.", Tyler Wright told reporters during the press conference.

Question: What do you think, who will be Columbus' next GM? And will Tyler Wright become headcoach?

                      TYLER WRIGHT IS THE MAN
From Development To Head Coach Over Night

COLUMBUS - - “We think we made the right decision with appointing Tyler Wright as the new head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets. He knows the players, he knows the organization, the franchise. Having a familiar face on the bench who knows how to talk with our guys out there is essential for building a competitive team. With the start of the season only 1 month away, there’s no time for getting to know each other. That’s most important for us. And we believe that Tyler Wright has all the things you need to have in this business to survive and to establish himself and the team. He’s a young, ambitious trainer who knows what we want and expect. We are happy to introduce him as our new trainer.”, John P. McConnell, Owner of the Columbus Blue Jackets announced this evening on another press conference at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. “At the moment we have more conferences then trainings, I guess.”
With appointing Tyler Wright, the Blue Jackets management made a very smart decision. He’s a guy who knows the whole team and management, but is open minded enough to bring some new structures on and off the ice. For years now, the Blue Jackets have a real good development section, which definitely credits to the work of Tyler Wright over the last few years. Guys like D. Brassard, J. Voracek, N. Filatov or S. Mason all benefited from his work.
But despite the appointment of Tyler Wright, there is still one big question unanswered: Who will take over the duties of Scott Howson? Up to now we only know this one thing, which has already been confirmed by the Blue Jackets management: The new GM will be out of Ohio. But there are a lot of names to consider: Dave Ellett, Rick Hayword, Moe Mantha Jr. and many more.

Columbus Hires Ohio Born As New General Manager

COLUMBUS - - Now it's official: The Columbus Blue Jackets have finally found a new GM. In the fourth and hopefully last press conference at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio in a spawn of just 7 days, Blue Jackets owner John P. McConnell announced the appointment of Moe Mantha Jr as the new GM of his franchise. "He's the right guy. Nothing more to say. We had many meetings over the last few days, and we took a lot of guys into consideration. And at the end it was Moe Mantha Jr, who impressed us the most with his bio and also his ideas for our franchise. We believe that he and new head coach Tyler Wright can turn around the fortunes of this team.", owner John P. Connell added to his words, before Moe Mantha Jr adressed some words to the reporters.
"It's a great honor for me, to take over an established NHL team. And the best thing, it's almost my hometown franchise. After the last years in different minor hockey leagues, it's probably the best thing that happened to me for a long time.", Moe Mantha Jr said at the press conference, before going to watch the team at the rink. He left with a smile and the following words: "There are big things coming.
                        Thank you!"

                        Info:
Intro finished, the next post will be about preseason and first trades. At the moment I'm thinking about how I'll design my posts and how often I'll update my dynasty. Maybe I'll make a post at the end of preseason with the trades and the opening night roster, and then monthly updates during the regular season. Have to think about that. Hope you like the new faces in Columbus so far, and stay tuned!

                              A. Radulov with a beautiful long lead pass to R. Johansen who finds M. Pacioretty for a beautiful 5-hole goal!

G S. Mason with a blocker save against RW P. Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks. What an outstanding preseason for him!

After 2 losses at home we were able to win 2 on the road. So we finished preseason with a solid 2-2-0. We have a load of new players in the line up, so we will still need some time, until everything works as it should. But I think we can get the 36 wins, the GM wants, and maybe we can get some more. Preseason is always funny to play, cause you don't know how a game plays out. All the teams are searching for their ideal line up, with which they want to start in the season. I think we have found ours now, which I'll announce shortly before regular season starts. Before finishing this post now, I want to write some more about the teams preseason.

                              THE GOOD:
                              - Steve Mason: if he plays the same goaltending in the regular season, as he did in the preseason, playoffs aren't out of sight for us
                              - line chemistry: all lines worked well after some adjustments, only 2 players of my opening night roster weren't able to score in preseason
                              - penalty killing: with 88.2% pretty solid, only DET and CHI scored against us

                              THE BAD:
                              - powerplay: just awful, only 1 out of 15 has been converted and we got 2 shorthanded goals
                              - the blue line: only 1 goal from the blueline during preseason is definitly not enough
                              - Curtis McElhinney: 4 goals on 10 shots, come on, thats bad, he was the reason we lost against DET

*Good night for now. It's 3:19 am now in Austria, time to sleep. Maybe I'll edit this post a bit tomorrow, but for now it's enough. Hope you like it and bye!
