No Night Games in 12
So why does it still not get dark until the 8th or 9th inning? It seems the only way to get a night game is if it's raining. Plus, why can't it at least be overcast in SkyDome/Rogers Centre or have the dome closed since you the Blue Jays play the majority of their games with the roof closed.Proud season ticket holder for the Oklahoma City ThunderTags: None -
Re: No Night Games in 12
Not sure what mode you play, but in my Rockies franchise, in April, it gets dark around the 4th or 5 th inning. I know it gets darker later in the game in the middle of summer and then goes back to getting dark earlier in the fall. This is the way it was last year and I'm sure it is the same way this year.PSN: ckarlic

Re: No Night Games in 12
Pretty sure the lighting goes by number of pitches, or at least it seems that way: I've seen the all-the-way black sky as early as the 4th iirc, and have finished games before seeing it at all. Just depends. I think it's done very well.Comment

Close. It refreshes per hitter.
And in franchise, it gets darker earlier in the season, later in the summer, and earlier in the fall.
Exhibition is based on mid-summer.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: No Night Games in 12
If anything the games "in game clock" might need to be sped up a bit so more time passes. I have never seen a game go 3 hours "game time" when I have played the CPU.
It would be cool to see a game start at 7 and end after 10 if the game is a slugfest.
Or if the game is a quick one very low scoring the game then it should end where all the games usually do around 9:15 or 9:20.
It seems to be if the CPU gets a hit then 2 mins of time pass in the game before the next batter. When a HUM player gets a hit the clock will either go 1 min forward or not at all.Comment

Re: No Night Games in 12
I agree. I raised this pre-release as I believe the game time progresses too slowly even though I still throw (me and CPU) standard number of pitches during the game. Interestingly, the post game announcer seems to indicate a more accurate length of game.If anything the games "in game clock" might need to be sped up a bit so more time passes. Guys, it goes per batter.
You can play a 40 minute full 9 inning game or a 90 minute full 9 inning game.
The lighting model will be the same. One of the biggest complaints in '10 was it got dark way too fast.
That was since tuned and corrected in '11 as well as '12.
It is also all variable based on "time of year" in season/rtts/franchise. So to get the effects of faster darkness and longer till dark, you need to play through.
Exhibition play is summer peak progression. You will not get the "darker earlier" effect in that mode of play.
It gets dark in my game pretty early on 3-4 inning early in the year, and in October it is usually already or almost dark initially.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 03-22-2012, 10:19 AM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

I think the progression is really nicely done in this game but if we have to nitpick, wouldn't it be even more realistic if it was balls thrown based instead of batters based? If you have a lot of full counts in the first couple of innings it should get darker earlier then when you have lots of one pitch at bats.
Maybe this would cause a major programming and calculation nightmare where the game gets such a hit they went with the progression per batter...?"When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: No Night Games in 12
The lighting progression is perfectly fine. I am just talking about the in stadium clocks seem to be to slow.
I have sometimes listened to the PA announcer after the game while just reading through the box score and the time he announces for the game time is always off.
I don't think its meant to be taken realistically just there for effect. It would be nice if the in game clocks were represented by the time that is said post game as I think more games would then be taking a more realistic amount of "game time".Comment

Re: No Night Games in 12
I'd have to disagree with this statement. I don't think Toronto has ever played 40+ games at home with the roof closed. It is usually open every game possible from mid-May into September some years (last year, it was open for the last home game even on 9/22, at night!). So that is at least 4 months or so with the roof open.So why does it still not get dark until the 8th or 9th inning? It seems the only way to get a night game is if it's raining. I have nevered checked the stadium clock to see if it syncs up with the given game time. The lighting progression is perfectly fine. I am just talking about the in stadium clocks seem to be to slow.

Well I just got done with my game in Toronto and I looked to see if the stadium clock matched the given game time and I couldn't because there is not clock at Rogers Centre (a.k.a. SkyDome).Atlanta Braves

Ideally that would be nice, but would only work with less impressive (due to being so taxing) "dynamic lighting".I think the progression is really nicely done in this game but if we have to nitpick, wouldn't it be even more realistic if it was balls thrown based instead of batters based? Their lighting model from what I gather is "static" per "frame" which affords them MUCH higher per pixel lighting fidelity where every object, even the ball and the fans are lit in a highly realistic manner, casting individual shadows and HDR.
So each batter is a new refreshed frame. Probably not until the PS4 to keep the same lighting quality more dynamically.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Gotcha, that is something for me to definitely jot down and present to them. The lighting progression is perfectly fine. I am just talking about the in stadium clocks seem to be to slow.
