    New to NHL Please Help

I watch hockey but that is the extent of my NHL experience. Never played the game or played the video game. Can someone give me some tips and tricks for getting better?

I usually cycle the offensive zone to try and open up scoring opportunities but the only times I score are usually accidents.

Another thing is shootouts... I can't seem to score unless I go to "Shootout mode" to practice and then it doesn't seem as hard. However in the regular games against the AI I can't score.

    1. Use Vision Control (Left Trigger), Poke Checks will be more accurate and will also help with Checks.

    2. Try not to switch players. If you do, try to leave your D men alone.

    3. On Offense, take a variety of shots from a variety of locations. Don't take just slap shots from the point and such. Work the puck around and shoot from high and low.

    4. Change up your Forcheck , Breakout, D Pressure, ect (D Pad). If you have a lead go less aggressive. If your trailing, crank em up for a bit.

    5. For Shootouts, fake a sho real quick to get the goalie to go down then go forehand or backhand to a side.
