    Season 2011-2012

Lets start with the goals for this 2011

    • 5th place in the Eastern Conference
    • freeing up some Cap space for future Contracts
    • get a player in the All-Star game

So i think all 3 are manageable goals for this Season, so lets start with freeing um some cap space.

Cap space at the moment - 2.07M not so bad but not good eithers´.

Lets take a look at our Roster and the contracts

As we can see Brand, Iggy, Williams and Young have the highest salary´s in our Team.

Iggy and Young have both save spots in our team, because both of them are the face of our franchise. Brand has a big contract an with his age he will not grow anymore. With Williams it is difficult, he is a great player, but the problem is not that, the problem is , that he will demand too much playing time as our 6th man.

So my decision is to look for a trade for Brand, Williams and Nocioni but wiht out giving up our 1st Rnd picks in the draft.

      The Trade

I will limit my trades to two , because its the start of the season. I will mainly look for trades where both side gain something.

      1st Trade:

      76ers get
PF Patrick Patterson, PG Derek Fisher, 2nd Rnd Pick 2013

      Rockets get
PG Luis Williams, PF Lavoy Allen

      2nd Trade:

      76ers get
      C Amir Johnson[Toronto], PF J.J. Hickson[Kings]

      Raptors get
      C Spencer Hawes[76ers], SF John Salmons[Kings] SF Travis Outlaw[Kings]

      Kings get
      PF Elton Brand[76ers], SF Sam Young[76ers], 2n Rnd Pick 2012[Raptors], 2nd Rnd Pick 2013[Raptors]

I used the tradefinder for all trades, only for the 3 way trade i edited the trade [no forced trade].

Lets Take a look at our roster after the trade.

        The Final Roster

I think the trades were pretty good for both sides, i lost only a little talent but i gained a huge salary flexebility for the next few Seasons.
Comments for the Trade are welcome.

Really close Game espacialy in the 4th quarter. Lots of turnovers on both sides, Ray Allen an Rondo where picking pockets like mad.
Young was on fire in the 2nd half of the game and was playing good D against Pierce.

Good Start in the Season, now off for phoenix.

37 year old Nash and 39 year old Grant Hill showed Philly that their age means nothing. Both together scored 38 Points. The defense of Philadelphia struggled against Nashs inside out game. Five Suns players scored 2 3Pointer.

4 straight loses for the 76ers, with 3 loses at home.
Lets take a look at our deficits, first of the Turnovers with 13.9 turnovers the 76ers are the 27 place in the league.
Second the freethrow percentage, only .607 percent of our freethrows that gives us the last place in the hole league.

The Coach will throw in some freethrow practise round in the next couple of days and Holiday will see his minutes reduced till he manages to hold on to the ball.

Homegame against our Division rivals Boston Celtics.
The 76ers beat them last time in Boston leading now 1:0 in the series, but Allen, Pierce and Garnet are coming to Philadelphia to take the W.

Philadelphia struggles at the moment with a 4 game losing streak and will try to turn things around at homecourt.

Pretty much a ugly game, with lots of turnover and many fouls espacially the Boston Celtics had foul trouble early in the game.
Kevin Garnet picked up all his fouls early, so he played only 9 minutes in total. Brandon Bass was DQed early in the 4th quarter.
Despite the 14 turnovers from the 76ers they took their chances at the free throw line with 41/50.

Next Game will be played at home against the Washington Wizards, after that Philadelphia is off to Orlando against the Magic.

Solid win against the Wizards, Holiday without turnovers in this game.
Andre Iguodala was everywhere on the court and had his first tripple double in this season.
But the 76ers had no time to celebrate their win, there off now now to Orlando for their Back to Back game. Lets see if Philly can stop Dwight Howard and the sharpshooters from the Magic.

                  Game Impressions:

                  Iggy can Fly

                  Quentin Richardson injured

The 76ers gained a huge win over the Magic in Orlando, the end score was 104 - 69.
The tactic from the 76er was clear from the beginning dont let Dwight get the ball and that worked well over the course of the game, only 13 points from Dwight Howard on this evening. But it was not only Howard who was not himself today, even the rest of the Team was a letdown.
To make the loss more bitter, SF Quentin Richardson sprained his Ankle in the 1st quarter and will be out for 2 - 4 weeks. For the first time in this season Philly managed only single digit turnovers. Andre Iguodalla was voted Player of the game. With the confidence boost from the win the 76ers end the November with 6-5, they have now some days to rest and will start the December with a game in San Antonio against the Spurs.

In the next post i will show the conference standings ( there are some surprises) and some league statistics from November.
Whenn should i turn the trade on for the Computer at the end of December or in January.

Next thing is, what dou you think about the Philly roster, any suggestions for a trade. I personally think that i need to replace Iguodalle in the near future ( next Season maybe in this offseason) any tips on a good SG or should i let Turner take over.

                      Iggy on top

Philly wins three in a row after tonights win over the Spurs.
The Spurs started strong in the first quarter with there 3 Point shooting but the 76ers managed to hang on with just 6 points behind. In the second quarter J.J. Hickson showed with a 4/4 shooting from the field and 5 freethrows. After halftime the 76ers build up there lead going in to the 4th quarter with a ten point lead. The Spurs tried to make a comeback in the 4th quarter with there e point shooting, but Meeks and Holiday turned the 3 pointers back at them.
The main reason for the loss of the Spurs was there foultrouble at one side and the struggle with drawing fouls on their own. With there outside game they could not draw any fouls in the fourth quarter.

Next game off to Memphis to the Grizzlies

                            News around the League

December 23, two days after the loss against the Kings Flip Saunder was fired as the Headcoach of the Washington Wizards.
Owner Ted Leonsis was not happy with the perfomce from his team the last few weeks. In this season the Wizards under Flip Saunders had a 13 game loosing streak, the overal record 4-17, that gives the team the last place in the Eastern Conference.
Another bitter note is, that the Wizard won only one game at home in this season. New Head Coach of the Wizards will be Jerry Warrick, this is his first job as Headcoach in the NBA, to this point Warrick has only coached some minor Teams.
Its hard to say if its good to let Coach without any experience in the NBA coach the Wizards with all of their intern problems.

                              Teamwork wins over Stars

                              December 28th, 2011
After coming from a winn against the Trailblazers on the other day, the 76ers were playing against Oklahoma in this back top back game.
In their prior meeting in November the 76ers took the loss in their homegame , playing now in Oklahoma aka "Loud City" it would seem easy to say that this will be a repeat. But this time the 76ers are coming to Oklahome with a huge confidence boost from their good season, the 76ers are at this moments not only the Atlantic Division leaders, they are also the leaders off the eastern Conference.

At the end of the game the 76ers took the win from Oklahoma with 116-100. In the first half the 76ers lead by 18 Pts, after that Philadelphia was managing the lead over the the 2nd half.
Coach Doug Collins whas really happy with the perfomce from his team after the game,
" It was a real team effort from us, we were spreading the ball well the hole time and we were not looking for only one particular player for scoring, all of the team took there chances on scoring."
And that is true, at the end of the game 7 players had double digit points, all 12 players scored and even on defense 5 players had 6 or more rebounds in this game.
Again the 76ers are building a streak with winning their 5th game in a row.

                              Denver ends 5 Game winning
                              streak from Philadelphia at home.
But that is not the only bad news for the 76ers, reserve Pointguard Derek Fisher got injured at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Her was soon transported to the Denver Medcenter and thats where he and the team was informed that he had torn his MCL. With this injury he will be out for the Season. Only 1 Day before this game Derek Fisher declared that he will be retiring after this season, but now with this injury it is possible that he will retire earlier then he wanted.
Fisher was playing some minutes coming off the bench, he was hired that young PG Holiday could learn some tricks from the veteran. But now Philadelphia is in need of a PG who can come off the bench. From the 76ers front office it is rumored that the team will make a trade for a new PG in the upcomming days, because there is no suitable PG at the free agent list at the moment.
We will keep you updated on any news on this.

// in the next post i will make an update on the leaguie standings and all other little things. And as you can see i need a PG who can come off the bench and give the team some good minutes. Maybe a young undeveloped PG or an old veteran like Fisher. If you have any suggestions for ar possible trade just post them. On January 1st i will open the trade market for the CPU as well.
