The superman dives and jumps to catch outs are ridiculous

I know that SCEA is trying to make the game as realistic and close to real life baseball as possible, but it's not realistic to have superman dives every time. In fact it almost is groundbreaking to have the outfield make unreal dives every time to ball is close.

    It's ridiculous.

Dude I have see this as well but every time I post about it within another thread people say they are not seeing it. Players will rarely pull up and just field the ball they usually dive for it and either make an amazing catch or just let the ball go by them which allows a triple or several runs to score.

If you are lowering fielder run speed, that may increase dive attempts, just because the ball in play just out of their reach increases.

But yes I'd like to see less dives, especially when the fielder is running back.

Instead of diving, they should also have a better judgement as to whether it's better to dive or let it just drop in order to prevent making a single into a triple. Right now I think it tilts toward diving a bit too often.

I'm not seeing this. I think I've seen 1 diving catch against me in all the games I've played. (8-10). I have yet to make a diving catch myself.

I'm seeing 2 to 3 a game. I love a good diving catch, but this is a bit much.

I see a ton of diving attempts, but it's about 30/70 when it comes to the computer catching it. Typically they miss by a mile and it gets by them for an easy triple.

Neither have I SINCE I first got the game. In the beginning there were tons of them
After setting adjustments/sliders it's not an issue.

I use TKN's sliders and it has calmed down a lot. It still happens but way less often and in a more believable way. Maybe still a little too much.

Out of the box it was unreal almost every fly ball was the most specatcular catch you have ever seen

Yeah I don't see this at all. Try increasing the Fielding Errors slider. It affects this type of thing a lot more than you'd think.

Re: The superman dives and jumps to catch outs are ridiculous

I see missed dive attempts way too often. I saw it out of the box, and with my current sliders with fielder speed at 2. It's almost always when the outfielder is coming in on a well hit line drive, and he'll dive head first while not even really looking at the ball.

Last year it was infielders holding the ball too long, which I still see from time to time this year, and now it's outfielders diving and missing. Fielding never really was a strong point in this game. Hopefully they can patch how frequently the AI decides to dive, because it seems to me like that could be a pretty easy short term fix. In the long term they need to add some new animations, like feet first sliding catches, including ones with outfielders knocking the ball down when they dive and miss.

It all looks really bad because not giving up extra bases is something they teach outfielders pretty much in high school or around that level. Certainly not a game killer, but every time I see it I go even though I am the beneficiary of the play.

                      Hmph...

I guess you actually need to hit balls in the gap - or atleast threaten it - to see this sort of thing.

Good thing is: I'm not having the problem...

Bad thing is: I sort of suck at extra base hits!!! My doubles are usually no-doubters.

I sort of feel your pain!! The only time I hit a ball past the outfielders is when I hit a ball past the wall. I never seem to get that middle area consistently. I've been tweaking sliders forever trying to figure this one out.

Your having trouble hitting doubles? Man I average like 3 or 4 a game. One game the other night I had 8 doubles. I thought my sliders got messed up, but when I played the next game I didn't get any, so I guessed it evened out in the end.

As for the diving, out of the box it was bad, but since I adjusted the sliders it has not been so bad. I don't see it every game anymore, and when I do see it , it's usually just once or twice a game.

8 doubles out of how many hits? According to MLB averages, every 4th or 5th hit should be a double. I'm averaging like 1 double for every 8 hits.

I more or less have a solution, though. It's just a matter of practicing, since I also have yet to figure out my ideal batting cam.

But we are definitely off-topic here...

Anyway yeah I saw a lot of missed dives on default too. Maybe it's just me, but I swear I see overall fewer attempts at dives with Fielding Errors increased. I wonder if the AI is set to calculate risk/reward before deciding to dive? The AI is probably aware of how likely they are to commit an error, and adjusts its own fielding aggressiveness accordingly. Anyway I'm rambling. I have no idea if this is true, and it's not something I've made an attempt to study.

For me the drop the ball as they hit the ground more than they catch it. Also not seeing a particularly high number of diving attempts.
