How do you play your franchise?

    Hey All

Just trying to get some good ideas for how to play my franchise once the Knight rosters are ready.

Ever year I try and play every game and get into season 2 and then never get anywhere past that. With all the minors I feel like I should play 10 plus seasons to see people develop.

So was trying to get an idea what some of you do to get through a ton of seasons? I was thinking maybe I would play each game and every time I lose I would not be able to play again until my team got a simulated win

Anything you might do you want to share?

I usually play 1 game out of every series, I pick whichever pitching match up I like the best. Some inter-league series i'll play them all, depending on the team, and if I make the playoffs, I play every game.

Whats the most seasons you have ever played with one version of the game using this method?

I usually play all 162 games, but I will most likely do about 120-140 games. Also manually injure players that are hurt in reality, and make sure to give Braun the 50 game suspension he deserves; I will.

Every year I do the same method. Play 1, sim 5. It let's you cycle through your pitching staff, and the 30+ games that you play has a decent impact on season stats and standings.

At least 5 before the next version comes out. August to December I mostly play Madden, or else I'm sure I'd fit another couple seasons in.

I play through 1+ season. But I started late last year or else I would've played more. I'll probably get in closer to 2 if not more this year. I play every single inning.

Heard a good idea from somebody on the boards that said play all of the game when the score is tied, only pitch and sim hitting when your team has the lead, and only hit and sim pitching when your team is behind. You can play both sides during the 7th,8th and 9th if its a one-run game. I think I'm going to try this while playing 2 games from each series. Seems like a good way to get thru a lot of games while never being too far removed from your team

I tried this method for 2 games on my test franchise with Astros (before PS roster). It's really fun.
1st game : i was ahead at the end of the 1st inning. Sim hitting and manual pitching to keep the lead. Win 4-2 vs Rockies.
2nd game : Behind for 6 inning. Sim pitching and manual hitting. I tied the game with bunt and sacrifice fly. Take the lead in the seventh. It was a 1-run game so i played both pitching and hitting. I won 5-4.

I made one minor change : i play every save situation even if my lead is more than 1 run.

I use Armor slider and i have pretty decent stats.

                    Some more tests to come.

Re: How do you play your franchise?

I am committed to finishing a full 162-game this year with the Mariners.

It won't be easy, but I think I can get it done. What will help will be the OSFM set and keeping tabs on all of the prospects. Hopefully by mid-season, I will be bringing up Danny Hultzen and possibly James Paxton (plan to pitch some of their games in the minors as well) to team up with Felix.

One or two games a day. I'd try to stay up to date with the real MLB season but doubt that will happen.

At a minimum, I want to be playing at least four out of every five games. What will make it easier is when I get the kids up with the big club.

This year, I'm gonna try to make it through all 162 and finish somewhere near the end of the actual season.

Seeing everyone finish with the real life season last year was really cool. It'll be cool to see how my Phillies match up to the real squad.

All 162, my trades are actually realistic, and i only trade near June and July.

I play either the first or last game each series, and every game in the playoffs. I mimic the big trades that happen in real life, and veto a lot of trades that don't make sense (Joba to KC for a couple of no-name prospects for one, Jeter was also traded last year...not!). I also try to get the major free agents to appropriate teams. That being said, I never thought of Albert to the Angels.

I play all 162 games. Mainly because I like be really into my franchise. Keeping track of how I'm hitting, pitching, fielding etc. in terms of stats year to year is fun for me. Whether I'm improving or dropping from season to season. Even if I don't make the playoffs I like to watch my team grow and with playing every game it's that much more fun and satisfying.
