There are so many people trying to wait patiently to find out if there will be a college game come out this year. When or how long, if any one knows, will it be before we find out if either 2k or EA has decided to make the game or not?

These games usually come out before their pro counterparts, so with that said, I would say since EA has already announced Nba Live 13, they likely won't be making a college basketball game unless they plan to release it after Live 13. 2k hasn't given us anything on Nba 2k13 yet (to my knowledge), so it's still up in the air as far as if they will revive the college hoops franchise or not. If they change their marketing strategy and decide to release their games in March to maximize profits, there's still some time left until we find anything out. Would be cool if someone knew of anyone who works for the two companies who could throw us a bone.

Whether we get a new college basketball game this year or not, I have a gut feeling we will get a new college basketball game sometime in the next few years as EA or 2k will find some way to tie it win with their pro franchises with modes like My Player (Nba 2k) or Road To Glory (NCAA Football) where you can create your own player and have him advance from high school through college as well as the pros for the ultimate experience just like EA has for their football franchise, which is very successful to my knowledge.

If, and this is a big if right now.. IF another college basketball game is made, I would not expect it until the next set of next-gens come out. I'd say if we're lucky, 2K15/NCAA 2015 is what you'll be looking for.

From what I understand the biggest hurdle in getting a new game has been the CLC. They're asking for outrageous prices on the licensing of schools.If anything I imagine it cost more now then it did when the's guys stop making games in 07/09... I remember in an article it said that only 250k copies of CH 2k8 were sold and it takes about 1million to break even.

What I wonder is if there was a kickstarter available to get a new 2k College Hoops game out ( No thanks EA. Stay away please) how much of a dent would us fans be able to make as far as the production cost goes ?

I've thought about that too, like if I'd won the mega millions I'd throw a chunk to 2k to get a new version of the game if I could bargain myself a percentage of sales lol

I'm not sure how the economics work but I can imagine if 2k threw up College Hoops 2k8 on the Xbox Marketplace they would sell a few copies.

We certainly won't see another college basketball game until after the player likeness lawsuits are settled. The companies (2k or EA) aren't going to sink the resources into something from the ground up to find it may not even meet demands of customers or something along those lines. NCAA Football will simply continue because of the economics in sales involved.

I would pay $250 for another college hoops game. I know that sounds crazy but with how much time I've spent on 2k8 I'd think it'd be worth it.

I have never understood why college basketball games don't sell better? I am a bigger football that that college basketball fan, but for video gaming, I'll take CHoops any day. More action.....less time sitting around in huddles & picking plays. And with the popularity the real sport brings in March, I would think more folks would want the video game??......but obviously not.

It seems to be difficult to market. I totally agree with you. One suggestion was to bring the NCAA tournament into the main focus of the game, but then you may have to release it in march and that would be a buzzkill
