Quick Reminder To All: Stay Strong, Remember Last Year

Just wanted to take a few moments to remind everyone here to stay strong and true to what 90% of you all said last year with the debacle that was NCAA Football 12, which was: "There is absolutely NO WAY I will be buying NCAA Football 13! Not after this year!"

I have noticed a lot of people coming off their threats and getting sucked in because the EA Sports Hype Train is starting up again, showing off flashy new gimmicks like "all-new trophy presentations" and "motionBlur". Also, they are promising an all new audio package in terms of crowd noise and broadcasting, but honestly how many times have we been promised something by EA and it either never comes or is broke to hell in the game?

I just wanted to make this post to caution everyone who is starting to come off their strong threats made last year and remind you to STAY STRONG and hold off on buying NCAA Football 13. Clearly, as we have seen over the last few years, the only way we are going to get a hold of EA is through their wallets. We need to make this the year where we finally go through with our threats of not buying the game on launch day. STAY STRONG FELLAS!

I can't help it bro, the monopoly is forcing me to purchase this game year after year after year, i love football and despite watching movies, ncaa and Madden are the only reason i own a ps3, if i had an xbox360 yes, it'd be the only reason i own it. No matter how much the game is flawed imma buy it every year because i have no other option.

Im not being sarcastic either, im dead serious my copy of ncaa 13 was paid in full upon picking up ncaa 12 which was also paid out in advance a year in advance. I wish there was a more tangible option than holding out and hoping that EA will realize that they miss my business and will swear to do their best in improving their product next year, i kno that wont happen, call me a sucker but thats just how it is bro...

I'm with you... EA's only chance is by pulling off a complete miracle on April 17th with series-changing improvements.

Funny, look at the past man, think, how many "April 17th" moments we've experienced with this game? Then we play the game for a few hours and we all kno what happens next, right? No matter how impressive that write up will be, im still purchasing the game on day 1, what other choice do i have?

I'm looking into buying used this year. Or at the least renting it to see for myself what they did and didn't do.

Unlike many year, I'm objective in my approach. I look at every year, test it, taste it, and see if I like it. If I like it, I'll buy it.

And so that someone doesn't attempt to challenge my track record, the last NCAA titles I've purchased:

              NCAA 2007 (PS2)
              NCAA 11
              NCAA 12

NCAA 12 did put me on the more cautious side of things, so I will scrutinize the demo a bit more this year.

I am not even playing the demo this year. I didn't notice any flaws with 2012's, I am waiting to rent. I will probably end up buying. 2010 I read all the hype, but didn't buy 2011 until November. After last year happened I am not doing a day 1 buy. I can wait. It was bad enough I am not dying for the last information or hype, and honestly haven't read much about it.

                Best of luck!

After last year NO WAY will I be back this year. For me it was one of the biggest disasters of a sports game in some time. I can't see how in only a few months they can fix all that was wrong with that game. They need to go on a 2 year hiatus and completely rebuild this game from the ground up.

This thread should be stickied at the very top.

Re: Quick Reminder To All: Stay Strong, Remember Last Year

I wish it was this way for me. Unfortunately, I'm such a big college football fan, that it would take a pretty crappy game for me not to buy it. Considering 12 was "pretty crappy", I've forced myself to actually weigh my options here. Just the fact that someone like me (who has bought every single NCAA since '03) is considering discontinuing my seasonal purchase speaks volumes of how far behind EA is.

Anyway, I'll probably buy it, but EA is going to have to show me some things in gameplay that actually have me believing I could even have fun with the game.

I think EA is about money and if people don't buy it and they make now profit then they will just scrap the game instead of fixing it. So in the end we still lose.

I will not buy on release for the first time in years. That will give me time to see the user reviews and go from there. I'll wait for a deal if I conclude that it's worth a purchase.

I don't see that happening. If sales decline to that point then they will start over and put out a better product because they know people will buy if the product is good. People won't quit buying just to quit buying. We quit buying because the product is crap.

I feel you OP but EA has got a pretty good setup going on. It normally takes around 3-4 weeks for the newness of an EA football to wear off and I can make an assessment of the game. By that time I have played many online games and finally have a named roster downloaded so I can test out an online dynasty. All those things work in EA's favor because I need an online code and named rosters take time to be released.

My problem is not that I don't get any enjoyment from EA football games, it's the lack of lasting enjoyment. So I will be buying both EA football titles new this year and IF once again, I find them lacking 1-2 months in, I will accept that for whatever reason EA football games this console generation just don't provide me with sustainable enjoyment and immersion, so time to move on.

Then, I will check back whenever the next-gen consoles drop and if EA football games continue that trend of being just good enough to enjoy for a little while but not for the long haul, I will write up on expose' on OS detailing all the reasons I believe this is a EA business model, not a console or coding problem. Unless of course the NFL exclusive ends and better NFL football games are on the market at that time, then I could careless what EA does with their football games. lol

Re: Quick Reminder To All: Stay Strong, Remember Last Year

I was going to create a thread like this, but I wasn't going to do so until early July. The OP should have waited until after the marketing blitz of the next couple of months had inevitably made many people here forget their solemn vow to not be "hoodwinked" again this year.

To a certain extent, EA has "beaten" me. I've given up on expecting the gameplay to ever rise beyond just being O.K., so when I decide if I'm going to buy the next version or not, I look at the design decisions.

If I like what they're trying to do in the areas of the game that matter the most to me, then I'm all in, even if I don't expect the implementation to be great.

I know already that many of the legacy issues of the game will not be fixed again this year. I've made my peace with that reality.

My gut tells me that they are going to attempt make some solid improvements to the gameplay and the Dynasty mode this year, so it's a high probability that I'm going to buy the game again this year.

If things go sideways, there will be no angry rants or bitter recriminations, I'll just move along, because I know exactly who EA Tiburon is as a development house.

Everyone else should know too, so I hope no one feigns surprise if there are no revolutionary improvements to this title.
