Promoting Cooordinator to HC

Is there any way to have your former team promote a coordinator to HC when you switch teams? I seem to always see my new team's former HC take the position, even if my coordinator is rated 99.

if their owner was dumb enough to fire you, the coach that will almost invariably become the best in the league after a few years, why would you expect the owenr to be smart enough to promote the next best talent at their disposal?

Maybe he didn't get fired and just left to get a new challenge or something.

I have seen the Bucs promote Monte Kiffen to HC and then Bill Muir to HC after Kiffen retired. I don't think I've ever seen my own team promote from within. Always seems like Jon Gruden or Andy Reid takes the job.

I did a sim last night and after I switched teams, my 99 rated OC(Colts former WRC, forget name) left the Bears. The Bears did promote QBC Trent Green to OC to take his place. They do seem to promote position coaches, just not coordinators for whatever reason.

I've seen it happen a couple of times. In a Raiders Dynasty when I left they promoted DC Ryan to HC.

Also in a Carolina dynasty, when I left they promoted the OC...I forget his name...he wasn't even that good.
