Re: NBA Game Discussion Thread Apr 9th - Apr 15th

Artest's inbound pass to end the game definitely had me going 'WTF' but I don't think it was bad as most think. Barnes was on the same page and all he needed to do in that situation was get a hand on the ball. The play gave the Hornets no opportunity to foul. Also, does anyone actually think Jason Smith is capable of cleanly stealing that ball, and hitting a turnaround 20 footer sprinting away from the basket? I know it seemed really sketchy, but I'm not really sure if you have to worry about Smith punishing you there.

If the Lakers inbound in the front court and miss a free throw, the Hornets probably have about 0.6 for a chance at a game-tying three. Not saying it was a smart play by any means, but the chance of the Hornets getting the steal and scoring has to be like 1%.

This is not true at all. You're never going to be 100% after missing that much time. You're not going to be used to the speed of the game, and strength/balance/stamina is always going to compromised in these situations, leading to increased chance of injury.

I get what you guys are saying about fatigue but they(pro teams) have the best trainers and doctors. You guys don't think they're taking every precaution with Rose? Of course they are.

I'm sure they go through a million things before giving him the ok.

If he "tweaked" his ankle(which probably means he sprained it somehow or rolled it up, that's not fatigue related.

I'm fine with a sprained ankle because his name isn't Stephen Curry. It's the groin stuff that scares me.

Coach used to tell me to watch how you stick your landings when your tired, your much more likely to tweak something...

Not saying that's what happened to Rose though..

This is definitely not true. Anyone who hoops knows that when you get tired, your footwork gets sloppy, you get less lift, and your stance becomes narrower. All of these things increase the chance of rolling your ankle.

In Rose's case it may or may not have been related to fatigue. Theres no way for us to know, especially without seeing the specific play. When a guy gets hurt in the 1st game back after missing serious time, people have to question the coach's decision to give him 40 minutes and the training staff's decision to clear him.

You say as if I don't Hoop myself lol. You do know there's other ways you can roll(tweak) your Ankle up, right? You can get on the court fresh off the bench, not tired at all and still roll your ankle. It's like a **** happens type of injury basically because it's not like you can actually see the signs of it happening beforehand.

Broke my right Ankle back in HS in my first minute on the court by simply going up for a rebound only to come down and land on it awkwardly and then find out that I broke it. That had nothing to do with fatigue at all, which was my point.

And seeing how nobody(not even the team itself)knows how Rose hurt his Ankle, I'm not going to question them playing him extensive minutes in his first game back. Now if this were a case of him saying he tweaked or reinjured his groin, then if I'm a Bulls Fan I'm pissed at Team Doctors and to a lesser extent, Thibs.

Yet he kept him out there. Goes to show you how bad Thibs wanted this game. I'm sure Rose didn't want out, but Thibs should have sat him, or limited his minutes.

Hindsight is 20/20. If no injury happened no one would say he played too many minutes. He had more than enough time off to go 40 min. Not to mention it is better to push him now so he knows his limits. If you wait until playoffs that could be a problem.

40 mins after a serious injury is odd though...

No excuses for the MVP. You out there, have your game right. Shump-Shump locked him down because the kid can play defense. He's just as Big & Physical as D-Rose which is to his advantage & doesn't back down from anyone..
