Re: NCAA Football 13 Interview - Sights and Sounds
I would argue the player models haven't looked good since Madden '05.
I guess I wouldn't say they looked good in '05, but the sliders for the various parts of the bodies actually worked and worked on a scale of 0-100, and a players position didn't dictate a general build template like it does now. How the players looked had everything to do with weight and the sliders.
0 = skin and bones
50 = average
100 = Ted Washington
Enough of the predetermined body types. These are 18-23 year old kids. Give us some flexibility.Comment

No updated cleats FIFA have a ton and we got like 5 in college football. That's ridiculous it's all about fashion statements with the players. Socks are all bad. Wrong lengths and no Nike elite socks and team specific socks like Michigan and many more. The knee pads are too low and the skilled players don't even wear them and some skilled player don't wear any. We need the option to remove like in Madden. And the hair styles need to be added like Troy palamolu style and clay Matthews style. More gloves and the knee bands are in the wrong positions. Give us the option to customize more like added team logos to leg and arm bands or be able to add different brands to the bands. This is why I will buy pre owned cause the little things got overlooked. Things that take a quick phone call or google search to update and make the game look at ways betterComment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Interview - Sights and Sounds
Huh? When did I say the art team shouldn't be focusing on graphics?? I said they focus on putting in 3D grass and dynamic lighting. How are those things more important than active sidelines or realtime atmosphere?
First off this is not a nba 2k vs ncaa comparison, nor is it EA vs 2k. Take a look at this image. Quick list of what I see; coaches, refs, 3d fans, foam fingers, fans wearing team jerseys, bench players wearing jump suits (that come off once they go into the game), bench players talking to each other and reacting to the game, camera men (that actually move and pretend to take pics), floor cleaning guy, gatorade jugs, computers or phones (w/e the hell that is) on the scorer's table ( people sitting there during the game are talking to each other and pretending to be doing things), player tattoos, jerseys that move and wrinkle, etc. etc. (Not to mention the bench, fans, the score table, and refs are all interactive with the players). I could think of dozens of other little things that go on behind the scenes, Im just listing what this particular screen is showing.
My point was, I would rather see EA focus more on things going on around the game, instead of focusing to make player models look so highly detailed. Are the players in NBA 2k extremely detailed like the ones in Madden or NCAA? No, but the game sure isnt ugly graphics wise at all. With all that stuff going on, closeups of nba 2k still look like this...
People mention the whole "graphics would take a hit if we had this kind of atmosphere in Madden." I don't buy it, I feel EA could definitely put in the atmosphere without downgrading the graphics in the way most people think.
This comparison doesnt work. There are more than double the players on field in NCAA than NBA2k. They are also doing more animations at the same time. In NCAA, at the same time you will have a QB dropping back, OL/DL Interaction, CB/DB Interaction and tackle animations. In NBA, there are animations happening at the same time but not as many.
The best comparison would be NCAA to All Pro Football but APF's models dont compare to NCAA 13s.Comment

If you want a real look into EA's philosophy concerning graphics, just look at the team entrances. It looks to me like they'd rather give us 8-10 super-detailed players running onto the field than give us 20-30 players (so it actually looks like a team coming out) and have the graphics take a hit.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Interview - Sights and Sounds
I know its small, but the sights and sounds a great additions. For me personally, I loved NCAA 12 but it did seem to get a bit dull at time as far as the atmosphere. I think with the additions to some of these sights and sounds, NCAA 13 will fix most of these problems. The before and after the play cuts are small, but well needed in the game.Comment
