correct.. they showed clips from '12 then from '13 to show the differences. It's a bit confusing because there is no overlay telling us which version of the game we were watching... or if there was i couldn't see it..

It looked the same to me...robotic and awkward animations, no foot planting by the QB's dropping back, that open field juke looked horrid (read robotic) and overall it looks like the same game. Sure we need to see more full fledged videos, but from this I can see that the game has not really changed they way some of you are proclaiming from that segment. #Shrug I look forward to April 17th.“What’s better than one billionaire? 2.....”Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
If you watch the video in the first post (about 14:20 mark) you see the thing that really bugs me. The receiver is running a drag route and catches the ball (going full speed) 2 yards away from the sideline. Then all of a sudden, he's running up field at 95% of his full speed. I wouldn't complain if he actually STOPPED, turned up field, and had to build up steam again.I played running back in high school and in college and I coach football and I've stopped on a dime before and I've coached kids that have stopped on a dime before, especially those that play offensive skill positions. Can every player stop or turn on a dime? Not at all and I understand what you are saying. But in real life, the elite players can stop/cut on a dime. Watch this highlight tape below of my little brother, he does it frequently, as well as guys like Reggie Bush or older guys like Peter Warrick. Defensive backs are good at stopping/cutting on a dime as well.

EDIT: I guess I'm complaining about the fact that guys are near full speed again the instant after stopping/turning rather than complaining about them stopping/turning on a dime.
EDIT 2: Nope. Both.Last edited by capn_razzamataz; 04-13-2012, 09:55 AM.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
I will admit that the information presented in the video made me smile. I have HATED psychic DBs and I am glad they are gone (potentially). All the items presented seems to be very welcome changes. That said I still need to see it all play out and see what is fixed/broken after the first patch before I can again commit to the game. Keep up the good work EA, I am watching and listening.Moderator

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
Am I the only one that wishes that they would bring back the passer cone of vision? That is the most realistic, sim style of passing that we've had to date, and everyone that I play with loved it. You actually had to be looking where you were going to throw it, and the QB had to "see" the receiver to make an accurate pass. The higher the awareness and accuracy, the bigger the cone. It was perfect.
Then EA took it out completely. Not just made it off by default, which would have been ideal, but took it out completely. There was no reason why they couldn't have left it in the game for hardcore players to turn on.
Anyone else with me on this? Anybody feel that it embodied the nature of the hardcore sim player and got thrown out because the casuals didn't like it and thought it was too hard?

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
The Good: The added pass trajectories are fantastic.
The Bad: There was no mention of a more route based style which means the wrs are probably still tied to the pass. I suspect they will still turn every route into a fly route if you throw it early. Of course that may be addressed by the icons not turning on until they make their breaks but that can also lead to more problems as well. If the blocking is unchanged, nano blitzes and things like that 1-5-5 shake will be abusable since the offense is stuck waiting for wrs icons to light up.
The Ugly: The overall animations and player movement looked about the same to me.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
I guess this is their way to get around the non analog nature of the xbox buttons, in a perfect world I would prefer near infinite amount of pass trajectories. Now it seems they're are 25 zones that you can either lob or bullet pass in, and the trajectory will based on what zone you are in. I would have liked it if they used the analog triggers to pass and used the face buttons to simply select receivers. To me this is the primary reason the passing game has been so bad this gen, the old systems did not have this issue because they had analog buttons.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
I HATED the vision cone, not because it was too hard, but because i thought it looked stupid on the field. I do agree it should still be an option for those that liked it though.Am I the only one that wishes that they would bring back the passer cone of vision? Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
Now while i do understand that to a certain degree it is abit unfair to make judgements to any additions without actually gathering more info as to how any additions will be implimented into the game/gameplay. my initial reaction is to say that im not 2 thrilled to hear that the qb wont be able to throw it to the wr until the icons show up.
as im trying to understand this correctly, in my minds eye, i see this having a negative effect on any user who actually knows how to read defenses and can pre-snap decipher where the blitz is most likely coming from and get the ball out to the hot wr as quickly as possible.
with the way they have made it much more easier for the user to control a DL as their main defensive guy, i could see getting sacked b4 the icons show up by someone who is proficient usering the DL.
also on crossing routes or any route 4 that matter, sometimes the best window you will get to throw the ball is the first window that pops open. based on the video if you only needed 2yrds to get back to 1st & 10, you could in theory hit the crossing route in the 1st window b4 the mesh takes place. sometimes it is more important to move the chains and live 4 the next play than it is to get the big play or wait for the entire play 2 develope. because depending on if your opponent is excellent at playing defense, you could get sacked b4 the icons pop up or b4 the play fully developes.
while it may sound nice in theory im not 2 interested in whether or not my qbs awr is tied into this or not because quite honestly its all about my awareness 1st and 4most, especially in user vs user games.
i could give more examples but ill stop here because like i said i need more information and i need to see exactly how its going to be implimented.
but just going off the top, its seems very limiting to those of us getting our inner Peyton Manning on.
ps. i also wasnt to thrilled to see the db go what appeared to be brain dead on that long ball and lose all awareness of where he was on the field, but again more info is needed 4 nowLast edited by TajDeni; 04-13-2012, 10:47 AM.Through Holy Union God Lives Inside For Everyone

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
Geez that juke move play by the sooner player looked terrible.. the progress looks good, but I still have some trust issues. They don't have a good track record when it comes to really fixing things
It's still a no go for me until I see some actual human vs cpu gameplay, none of this zoomed in close up to the player models stuff where you can't see anythingComment

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones
But it made sense. People didn't realize that you could hold LT and hit the icon of the receiver, and the vision would automatically pop over to him without you having to move it with the right stick, this made it a lot easier.
And it was much more realistic. Yea, the other player could see where your vision cone was. That was BRILLIANT. In real life, DBs and LBs are constantly reading the QB's eyes and where he is looking. I loved being able to fake out the other user by looking to the right with my cone of vision while actually intending to throw it to the backside post. This simulated looking off the safety as a QB perfectly. You could catch them all out of position trying to follow your cone.Comment
