Yea but I understand why some people are upset. I remember last year if I'm not mistaken they were taking live questions and if I'm also not mistaken it was mad skills who was asking some valid questions about gameplay and they kept answering the people who were asking basic questions about info that was already released and readily avail. I think the only question they answered was pertaining to dreads which. I remember quite a few people from this forum were upset that day.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones

I remember being so vocal last year about full editing in dynasty, and feeling like heaven had came early when they announced it. I was so looking forward to spending time recreating the espn 150, assigning players to the right state and whatnot.

Only to find out you couldn't edit recruiting classes. You could only edit recruits once they were on a team, making it impossible to recreate recruiting classes and rankings. And to add insult to injury, you couldn't even change the size of the player. :Facepalm.

I remember thinking 'you're doing it wrong!"

They announce something we ask for to check it off the list of things to do, but don't do it right. It's one of those things I'm constantly concerned about when they do announce that they have added something.

And i'm not going to forget them touting improved crowd reactions as a feature last year, only to be greeted with horrendous crowd reactions. It's those type of things I wish the devs would speak openly about. Answer why they don't allow editing of recruiting classes and the ability to share them like NBA 2K does for draft classes.

Or coming on here to answer why the so called improved crowd was nowhere to be found in 12. even though they were hyping it.

If it was a code issue, come here and say it was. If not, all it feels like is false advertising...or let me be blunt, flat out LYING. You're not endearing yourself to your customers with that kinda stuff.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones

Ha I remember when Ian/Phil first came on here and the initial thread where Lbzrule and others broke down(Gang Tackling I think) a Madden Clip with Sean Alexander...

At first many were skeptical about them(Including Me), thinking it was only for promotion of the game...but those 1st couple of detailed conversations they had here with everybody got a lot of people on board....and before long Ian and Phil had their own Army around here.....

....Ready to defend "The Process" of helping to build Madden 10 for the Sim Crowd here at OS....It was great we had tons of detailed blogs/discussions about gameplay with everybody pitching in their youtube vids/Pics thinking ok we're really helping them "Get It" about how to build a great NG Sim Minded Game of football.........

Then Madden 10 hit and many went like

Did we really spend hours upon hours over our Summer to build "Ian's Reference Book".......for this?????

Many were upset(Didn't help that many viewed the blogs as misleading) that the game didn't make more of a jump, considering OS members showed EA what Madden needed to be an elite Breed of Sports Game...

After that the interaction kind of went back into the more promotional phase we have today.........

I'll be interested to see how detailed the Gameplay Blogs really are and if the Devs want to talk any hardcore Xs and Os like back in the day afterwards.....

My bet is no, but I hope Im wrong

the Madden team were much better with the interaction on the boards. Ian i think said he the negativity drew him away but i remember the Madden team being very responsive. People would post things being wrong (mostly in the art department) and they'd come back within a few days showing the correction. That helped them gain credibility and trust.

The NCAA team was never like that on these boards. They basically used it as a promotional tool to showcase the stuff they liked and were proud of while ignoring the tough, main or important questions. They would rather tell you about the sky changing every year than tell you things within the gameplay.

It's even worse with these rookies who come here, brand new, and instantly mouth off as if this is a platform from which to launch their vile poison towards EA. I love Madden and NCAA just as much as the next guy, but some people get too personal about it.
Yeah, I enjoy it when we have developer interaction, but if I were them, I'd never come on the boards. Their hands are simply tied too much for the experience to be worth it.

Marketing and legal put the kibosh on much of the potential convo, especially when something goes wrong,(see Mass Effect 3). Also they have to, and should of course, be courteous and professional at times, even when so many here can't control their ****, feeling that X amount of dollars spent on the game or games, is a license to be a douche.

Better for them to just say what they need to say on their blogs, webcast, Facebook, or Twitter, or at the community events, where I imagine that civility always prevails.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

At this point people need to realize that unless an complete overhaul happens at EA with regards to NCAA, no sufficient future immediate changes will take place. Though I do not want to beat a dead horse with a stick, for EA to not consider patching something as simple as a chain gang into the game or revisiting and fixing non realistic moon predator dreads, can put to rest those concerns for more detailed gameplay consistent with simulation. EA's mindset right now unfortunately is this, "Because their is no competition, you can take our product or leave it."

Yes I would love to have a great sim football game, but when EA won't focus on the little things, to me, that is evident of a no care attitude. Year after year, its that carrot tied to the donkey mentality..."keep chasing"...
"Florida State, the only FBS Division-1 school to finish consecutively in the AP top 5 poll for 14 years. This is a record that no other collegiate football team will ever remotely come close to accomplishing again."

i agree, they better pray that no one else ever decides to make a college football game because at this point i think so many people are fed up that they'd take anything else.

You're right Pared, it is a bonus and privilege, but not for the gamer.

They use game forums like these to market their games at Sweat Factory Cost, if any cost to them at all.

Without actual gamers spending time on these sites, they wouldn't even glance at OS.

We're doing them a favor, not the other way around.

It's our discussion about their game (negative or positive) that markets their game.
Without our discussion, they must go back to the expensive cost of TV segments to push their games.

I feel such a statement really devalues the business source (OS Forum) that the owner of
this site is providing to such a company.

We need toget away from the mindset that sites like OS Forums and it's are beneath them and we're the priveleged one's "If" they decide to grace us by visiting.

We're worth alot more to them, than they are to us.
                      That's the Truth!!!

We'll ignore the question about Special Teams but look at the reflection on this helmet when you're in the replay screen zoomed in right in tight on the helmet.

They hype up, "We've added Custom stadium sounds this year so you can add your own music." Then we get the game and it doesn't even work correctly. "We added Teambuilder so you can import your own teams from the internet." Then they leave you with half-assed options, no text box, no picking your team brand, no sock options, etc. Then we ask and ask and ask for a text box and they add a half assed text box with 3 choices of text. "We added coaching carousel!" Then we get to play it and it doesn't work right.

For every person who is negative towards this game there is an EA nut hugger who makes excuses and either overlooks the flaws or is simply too blind to even see them. Yes people want to have fun and enjoy a game but it's hard to when the game is so filled with bugs and glitches. And the frustration of coming here year after year and saying the same things over and over only to have them basically ignored gets frustrating.

Only can speak for myself, but I think I've been pretty open about things to this point. If I can't answer something I can't answer it, but I'll at least say as much most of the time.

Again, though, I think it's a really tough spot to put developers in to expect them to keep a running conversation up, especially on a massive message board where the conversation will get cluttered.

I come here and will continue to do so because of my history here and because I do think it's beneficial. I presume once Madden comes out though and people actually get to play what I've been working on my honeymoon period will come to an end. But it doesn't mean I'll run away or anything, it just means there's more chances to be "attacked" which inevitably begins to weigh on most folks.

that's why i said the Madden guys did a good job with the interaction and used the example of someone pointing out an error, for some reason i think it had something to do with Dallas' star or some other type of art issue, and Ian responded a few days later that it had been fixed and showed us.

It's the NCAA team that did a bad job with the interaction. Were you on the NCAA team back then? if so i apologize that i don't remember but i just remember them just ignoring questions about stuff that was important and answering questions about the fluff or stuff we've already read blogs about. I thought the Madden team did a decent job but people just kept piling on till it got to a point where they decided it was counter-productive and not worth the headaches.

I remember an instance where Ben and someone else were doing like a video chat and answering questions specifically from these boards and would answer a question, skip over certain questions and then find a question about something they had already been talking about and that they were excited about such as progressive lighting.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones

I said a few months ago I wasn't buying this game, and I'm still not. However, I'm still curious to see how it looks, so I came in to see this vid.

I just find it funny that ONCE AGAIN, all is the same.

The guys who have been here since like '04 and earlier, like myself have the gripes, and many of the new ppl from like 2010 on, think it's the greatest game ever.

ONCE AGAIN, ppl are complaining, EA devs are in here, nothing is really being answered, and we're back to square one.

Face it guys, since NCAA '07 on next-gen there has been ONE really good version of this game, and that was '11(before all the patches screwed it up). ONE. Every other game was marred by the CPU not throwing deep ball...ever. By only having a bullett pass or a lob pass. By WIIIIDDDEE OPEN gameplay, which was possibly the worst thing ever. I could keep going, but those of you who have been here know the rest....

NCAA 12 wasn't terrible, but it should've been a better built version of '11. Instead in many ways it regressed, and on a smaller note it really ticked me off that the uniforms didnt get dirty. Things like that really take away from being fully IMMERSED into the game. I know one guy who didnt buy the game b/c that didnt work....and that's his right, and I understand. The patch that screwed up the no-huddle broke my spirit for the game, and I never played it after that.

Mark my words: This game will be NO DIFFERENT. You're gonna run out day one, drop ur $60-70 bucks on it. Then you're gonna see all sorts of problems. EA is gonna "fix" those problems via a patch, then you're gonna see new problems caused by the patch, and things that were fine before will now be broken.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and this game won't change in a year no matter how much you all hope.

As far as my comment, it's definitely permitted. We have been told over and over something works when it doesn't - patches that will fix the broken, but wont - the new game is finally fixed, followed by another patch. After all that they laugh at how bad it was when they put out the next release.
I don't think the Madden/NCAA developers avoid here because of "tough" questions, they avoid here because the signal-to-noise is extremely low. There are 11 pages of discussion in this thread based on a very short clip, most of which aren't questions. Honestly if you expect busy people to wade through 20 pages of noise to find a couple good questions you have higher expectations than I do.Even if they DO wade through the whole thread they know answering questions just generates another 50 pages of people analyzing the 30 words they typed.

I love that people are obsessed over these games, I fall into that group, but you guys need to temper your expectations with reality (I'm only talking about interaction here).

I've learned not to expect anyone here on OS to trust my words, but I've personally spent a lot of time at EA SPORTS over the last few months (and will be spending more time before the game goes gold) and I know personally that they've been asked tough questions. I've been able to ask questions I've ALWAYS wanted to know the answer to. I've also learned why the answers to those questions aren't public knowledge.
