Which hitting sliders should I manipulate that will allow them some more offense, but still allow me to strike them out in a good ratio?

Need to increase cpu's hitting, but want to keep Ks the same
25 games into my franchise and my era is about 2.4 (Dodgers, too low). Record is 18-7. I want to tweak some cpu hitting sliders that will help them get more runs and hits, but I am averaging about 8 strike outs a gm which is about right and don't want that to decrease greatly.....All Star Pulse pitching...

Re: Need to increase cpu's hitting, but want to keep Ks the same
Solid Hits and Power are the sliders you are looking for. I'd start with Solid Hits. Both will increase offense and will have next to no effect on strikeouts. I can't tell you how much to increase it though, because you didn't tell me how many hits, extra-base-hits, and home runs and stuff you're giving up currently!25 games into my franchise and my era is about 2.4 (Dodgers, too low). No but really I'd say just increase Solid Hits 1 point and you should be fine. -
Re: Need to increase cpu's hitting, but want to keep Ks the same
Since we're essentially talking ERA here, there's a few things to look at. First, hits.
If the CPU is averaging between 8-9 hits a game, and approximately 0.90 - 1.10 HR's a game, than the Power and Solid Hits sliders may not need to be touched. This is a good thing! But you have to check.
Think. How do runners score in baseball? Baserunners and RISP. On to my point.
If you are allowing between 8-9 hits per game, you need to look at a few other statistics. BB's, SB, and E.
If the CPU has 9 hits per game, but only 1 BB, that's still 2 baserunners per game that don't have the opportunity to cross the plate (based on a 3 BB per game average). Check your BB's and if they are low, drop Consistency a click.
If the CPU isn't stealing (RISP is KEY for runs), SB Frequency needs to be raised. I've found that Default (5) produces too few attempts compared to real life. Through extensive testing (and I mean extensive), that slider should be a 7. You can probably go ahead and make that change now.
Errors are also important. They produce baserunners; which in turn will rattle and exhaust your pitching further, and increase the likelyhood of RISP. I have the Fielding Errors slider at 6. Check your fielding percentage and see if that is a fit for you.
You do not NEED to necessarily boost CPU offensive sliders as a first step (not saying you shouldn't, just saying you didn't post enough info). There are other sliders - such as the ones I mentioned - that will help you but you have to check your stats to verify if my advice works for your style.
Hope this helps.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 04-17-2012, 09:02 PM.Comment

Re: Need to increase cpu's hitting, but want to keep Ks the same
Thanks for all the help guys. I will have to check my hitting sliders, but I know I am not walking enough guys, never make errors ( have them on 6 for sure), and the CPU is not stealing or hitting enough HRs. So I will take the advice from above and see what happensComment

Don't go nuts, man. Thanks for all the help guys. I will have to check my hitting sliders, but I know I am not walking enough guys, never make errors ( have them on 6 for sure), and the CPU is not stealing or hitting enough HRs. So I will take the advice from above and see what happens
Bring Fielding Errors to 6 and SB Frequency to 7.
You said BB's are low, so drop Consistency at least 1 click; 2 clicks if necessary. But keep in mind that dropping Consistency very well could have a side effect of more CPU HR's, or CPU offense in general. For reasons not worth going into now...
Make those three changes first and see how it plays out. I'd personally recommend leaving Solid Hits and Power alone for now. Consistency *could* be enough here.Comment

I have both errors at 6 now and am not having any errors. Should I push to 7?Comment

Re: Need to increase cpu's hitting, but want to keep Ks the same
No.
Errors are a tough statistic because of so many variables. Not to mention that most if not all teams do not even commit an average of one error per game. To get a true sense, you need to play many many games. I have, and Default is too low.
Myself and others have tested this slider. If anything Fielding Errors could go to 7, but leave throwing errors alone (at 5) for now.
What other changes are you making currently? You never specifically said.Comment

Well, only planning on trying consistency, errors, and fielding first. Next would be power and timing I things don't move in right direction.Comment
