    Pat Summit Steps Down

I know its womens basketball, but Pat Summitt has been an icon in the sport for years. She has won 1,098 games and 8 NCAA Titles. She recently developed the early stages of Alzheimer’s and has decided that she can't coach anymore. Its a sad day for womens college basketball, The University of Tennessee, and the thousands of young students and student/atheletes that she has mentored thoughout the years. She has decided to step down effective immediately and Holly Warlick will take over.

It's a shame to see her leave the sport.

One of the greatest coaches - men's or women's - in any sport.

Sad day for us Vols fans.

Wow, I was really pulling for her to continue coaching, but I understand.

I ****ing hate Alzheimer's Disease; it's the most God awful disease on the planet. It is my hope in my lifetime that we find a cure, and at least for now find a way to stop it in its tracks.

Five years ago while on vacation in Clarksville, TN, I was blessed with an opportunity to watch her coach. My brother, my Dad, my nephews and I went to watch an AAU tournament and to our surprise, she was coaching one of the teams. The team she had wasn't all that good, but I saw with my own eyes why she's a legend. The game of basketball is losing one of the all-time greats.

The White House has also announced that Obama is awarding Pat Summitt the Medal of Freedom (highest award a civilian can get)

Pretty sure that is a major violation for a college coach to be coaching an AAU team.
