DETROIT FREE AGENT PERIOD
Detroit, MI- NHL entry draft completed and the Wings were able to add some important pecies to their team. Now they move onto free agency. The Wings had a few very important players that needed new contracts.

The 1^st puzzle to fall was that Nicklas Lidstrom will return for at least 1 more season as a Red Wing. He signed a 1 yr contract to contuine playing. Once Lidstrom signed everything else started.


After Detroit took care of their own free agents they went into the market looking to add a couple players. They put out offers to a couple RFA’s from other teams but those offers were matched. They did bring in 2 UFA in Lee Stempniak and Michal Handzus.


Justin Adbelkader and Ty Conklin were both released/allowed to hit the free agent market. Conklin was the Wings backup but didn’t have a great season. With the addition of Kassian who impressed the team staff, Abdelkader found himself on the outside.
