Fair trade for #1 overall pick (2012 class) using Boston?
Title basically says all. I really want Anthony Davis in my franchise (even if it means giving up A LOT), but I want to know how much people here think it would take? Obviously, people are gonna say Rondo, but I'd trade Rondo and who else for the #1 pick and who else? Obviously, assume it's bad teams like CHA, NOH, CLE, etc.Tags: None -

Giving up rondo for an unproven 220 lb pf is a franchise crippler.
I think about any team in he league would rather have a proven triple double machine and franchise cornerstone in rondo than Davis

Well that's not true at all. Boston can't make a package that would get them the number one pick. Davis is getting an absurd amount of hype right now (rightfully so or unrightfully so).Comment

You could probably get him by trading away 2 of the big 4 and possible a draft pick. I personally wouldn't do it though.

Why do you want to trade rondo???? Trade the big 3 b4 rondo.Title basically says all. I am lakers fan and a diehard lakers fan and i would never trade Rondo. I agree trade the big 3 before rondo. The way their contracts are it's easier to build around Rondo. You might be able to resign some or both Allen or KG for way less and have money to go after someone to fill the void. If you want Davis that bad then wait till the trade deadline and trade Rondo to that team.Comment

Umm 26 is not old man and when it come to a point guard, if healthy and in the right shape can last in the NBA until atleast age 19 to 40 plus from 19 to 32 you can have a team built around themComment

Not Rondo. Even if I work on him in TC every year (and do drills every year), and up his potential to 99, he still ALWAYS decreases his skills at 27, stays at 29, then it's all downhill from there. He's like an 80 by the time he hits 31-32, which is not what I want. I want a player that I can play a good 10+ years with, and I think if I work on Faried's potential, and work on his post game, he can be one of (if not the) best defender in the league. Ray Allen usually retires or I let him go because of cap space, so Lawson provides scoring for me at guard, I get a "young" SF, who may never be a starter but will be a decent role player for a few years, and an extra 2013 1st, which I can either use, or possibly trade for a veteran player at the deadline, if I need to.
If I suck with playing with Rondo, is this a good trade for me, or am I getting too much/too little?Last edited by LookItsOP; 04-21-2012, 02:21 PM.Comment

Re: Fair trade for #1 overall pick (2012 class) using Boston?
Just go to whatever teams pick you trying to get in the trade finder and all the options for getting it will come up. If it says no deals found then no matter what you do, they aren't going to accept anything and the only way to get it would be to turn the trade override option on, which is majorly cheating.
If you do get the pick you want, be prepared to turn off autosave and restart Association 10 times because 9/10 the teams pick you trade for will not get the #1 selection. So also make sure it's a team in the bottom 4 the day before the trade deadline.Comment

I started a franchise with the thunder, won the finals, and somewhere in between I traded James Harden for Wilson Chandler and then Chandler for Kemba and a 2012 first round pick. I ended up winning the lottery. Always trade to the worst team, they always win.
P.S. I did not have force trade on.Originally posted by Ken Griffey JrMe, I'm the little guy in the group. ^Well yeah, but I want to keep it realistic and make no trades during the season in 2012 (to keep the rosters how they are IRL right now).
But like I said, I think I'd be better doing the Faried trade. He's a great rebounder, a competent post defender, who has the potential to be a great post defender, a great blocker, athletic for a man his size, and if I work on his potential and post game, he could become a top PF eventually.
Actually, I already made the trade, and for fun wanted to see how good I could get him through TCs and seasonal progression (NO developmental drills), and throughout his career, he was the DPOTY SEVEN times, led the league in rebounding 3 times, led the league in blocks 3 times, and was the #1 rated PF in the game until he retired at 38.
I only did TC for progression ONCE, and the others I just focused on his weaknesses.
Obviously, I want to go back and actually play out that career myself, but I like the trade

Personally if I were the GM of the team with the #1 pick I'd take Rondo alone in a heartbeat for Davis, but of course some people feel he's going to be the next great big man, while I think his ceiling is Tyrus Thomas.Comment

^I think Drummond will be better 5 years from now, honestly.
But anyways, I've already made the Faried trade, and I'm satisfied with it. I thought it was an even trade, but I definitely won the trade when Rondo broke his ankle, Danilo got hurt, and the Nuggets plummeted, and my luck in getting the #2 pick. But again, just pure luck on my part.Comment
