2K Sports and Spike TV to Celebrate Newest Millionaire on May 24th

2K Sports and Spike TV to Celebrate Newest Millionaire on May 24th
Half-Hour segment will chronicle the eight finalists’ quest for perfection

New York, NY – 2K Sports announced a unique partnership with Spike TV to produce and air a half-hour special covering the finals of this year’s $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge at the MLB FanCave in New York City. The show, which will air on May 24 at 11:30 PM ET/PT, will follow Major League Baseball 2K12’s million dollar, single-elimination tournament and introduce the newest member of the Perfect Club.

The Spike TV segment will be hosted by Geoff Keighley of GTTV, and feature a special appearance by Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model and Perfect Club hostess Kate Upton. The show will include exclusive interviews with the eight finalists as they reflect on their performance in the tournament, as well as their journey to the MLB FanCave all the way to the final out and the $1 million check presentation.

With less than one week remaining to qualify for the tournament, the competition has reached a boiling point with more than 750,000 perfect game attempts logged and more than 700 verified perfect games thrown. Players have until 11: 59: 59 PM PT on April 30, 2012 to achieve their perfect game. The top eight qualified gamers with ranked and verified perfect games pitched on Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network via the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft or PlayStation®Network via PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system will qualify. Competitors and fans alike can follow the latest leaderboard updates down to the final minute at http://2kgam.es/MLB2K12.

Access to the $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge is available on copies of MLB 2K12/NBA 2K12 Combo Pack in addition to stand-alone copies of Major League Baseball 2K12.

A question that I have had about this year's contest: What happens if one of the finalist is an XBOX360 guy and the other finalist is a PS3 guy. Which console do they use for the championship and doesn't that give one guy the upper hand over the other guy, who might not be as familiar with the controls using a different console's controller?

The million dollar tournament will be played on pc not any console.
Only the truest Buffalonians know what it is to stick with your hometown teams. Eventually we will be rewarded with a Super Bowl or Stanley Cup Championship. The ONE thing I want to see most before i leave this world. What a day that would be.

Good. Get it over with so they can release a patch.

ah, thanks. I wasn't aware of that. Since I play the game on PC, I didn't bother to read the official contest rules since I would not be eligible (double-whammy is that I live in Arizona.)

Strange that they would do the tournament on PC while the qualifiers had to play on consoles. Maybe those console people will look at the PC version and go "Wow! This looks awesome! Much better looking than the console version. I need to get this on my PC!" Maybe that was 2k's evil, diabolical plan from the get-go, to promote more sales.

It sucks to hear this, escpecially when you get painfully close to winning it.
